I don't believe this hotel truly meets 5-star standards. The staff are friendly, but the overall experience falls short in some basic areas.
We had a 7 a.m. checkout, and breakfast doesn't start until 8 a.m. — meaning we couldn't have breakfast at the hotel. We asked for a to-go option, which was not available. This is something every other 5-star property I've stayed at handles as a matter of course.
Additionally, no complimentary water was offered in the room — or if it was, no one mentioned it. Again, this is standard at any hotel in this category.
Breakfast itself was decent, nothing remarkable. I understand Portofino is an expensive destination, but the experience here didn't match the 5-star label.
