Very Impressed

I was very impressed with this hotel. I have stayed at other Best Western’s so I did not expect much. I was in town for the national championship game so I was ok if it was not that nice b/c I only needed a place to stay the night. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the room. If I am every back in Hollywood I will stay here again.

New Years Eve in Hollywood

Best part of the Best Western Hollywood Hills is it’s closeness to everything in North L.A/Hollywood. It’s five minutes by taxi to Universal Studios and five minutes to the Hollywood night clubs and restaurants. Rooms were nice and clean and for the price, would recommend.

Best Western Hollywood Hotel Review

Just what you’d expect from a mid-price Hollywood Hotel - signed memorabilia on every wall. Very central location - 2 blocks walk to Walk of Fame and tours.

Price, Location Trump Customer Service, Maintenance at Hollywood Hills Hotel

We’ve stayed at the BWHH two years in a row. The price is reasonable for Hollywood and the location is outstanding. It’s Cafe 101 is an awesome little nook for good food and the occasional star passing through. (We saw Amanda Seyfried having supper last time we were there.) But the staff of the hotel is barely interested in you. Every single vending machine was out of order one of the days and the staff made us fill out a freaking subpoena to get our $2 back. The water pressure in our room (this year) was practically a trickle and (worse) the staff didn’t rush to send anyone up to look at it or even act slightly apologetic. But again, the the price is very right and the location is central to Hollywood’s good stuff. The room cleaning was perfect. One more thing: if you’re looking for a place with a strong wi-fi signal, this ain’t it.

October is awesome in L.A. it’s not blazing hot (so you can do walking tours in comfort) but not so cool at night that you can’t sit at a sidewalk cafe. You can watch the talk shows live if you go online a few weeks out and get tickets. You can also watch a sitcom being taped, but be ready to sit for 4-5 hours or longer. (Ouch) Definitely use Yelp! to find awesome restaurants and, when in doubt, hit the Farmer’s Market for the best of ANY food type.

The Best of the Best

We had the most enjoyable stay. The room was fantastic and the location was perfect. Very nice staff and a good retaurant attached to the hotel. Good pool and quiet neighborhood. We will stay there again.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Close to everything Hollywood. Hollywood sign, Walk of Stars, Mann Chinese, Beverly Hills, and our favorite Universal Studios.

Nice Hotel - Great Location

At first when you enter the lobby it is very small and you wonder what your room will be like but surprising the room was very spacious and the bathroom huge! Very clean. The matteress were a little uncomfortable but all in all would definately stay there again. The staff was not as friendly as I would of liked. One man was very nice but the others could of been better.

Good place to crash in Hollywood

Lets face it for most of us you don’t live in your hotel room. You are looking somewhere clean and comfortable to get ready and sleep. My friends and I needed a place to stay because we were going to an event in Hollywood and we needed a place to get ready before and also would be getting out too late to make the drive home. I booked this hotel off expedia going be just the customer reviews. Awesome hotel for the price and good service. One of our party was desperately afraid of heights and our first room assignment was on third floor. The front desk guy was nice enough to get us another room with an enclosed hallway. The bathroom was very nice and the room spacious and clean. Free parking was nice too and the hotel was situated in good area.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Only one block up from Hollywood Blvd. so its within walking distance of most of the theaters there. Also near the Scientology building of the Stars so its a decent neighborhood according to my friend who lives in the city.

Would stay again

The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. We were a little late checking out and they were perfectly fine with it. Great location and only a $6 cab ride to Hollywood Blvd.

My room was spacious, very clean, quiet & free garage parkng..

The 101 Cafe is awful! If you are health conscious, not the place. If you like friendly wait people, not there. Cafe chairs uncomfortable and dark, dingy looking. Like a greasy spoon.

Good can be better

Hotel is at a good location, close but not too close to the hub-nub of hollywood. First day we stayed in the room which was facing Highway. Boy, was it noisy. Next day upon request they moved us to the other side, which was much quiter. We were also able to see Hollywood sign from the room window. Reception does not have concerige, and the staff did not know much, but were willing to look up and help. For the price, and comfort, i would go back.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

If you rent a car, do not need to do the bus tour. you can drive on your own. May have to do some research on your own. We drove to Beverly Hills on our own. Did Redeo drive, and walk of fame (stars) The museums on Hollywood blvd are not so good compare to similar Wax musium, riply etc elsewhere.

Very nice room for the money

I was very impressed by the size of the room and the bathroom, and appreciated having a kitchenette though we didn’t use it. I Also liked the large screen TV. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. The only negative I can say is my room, rather than facing the pool, faced a brick wall and it made it dark and claustrophobic.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

We drove over to the Getty Museum which is not too far away and free except for parking. It’s very impressive.

Noisy and uncomfortable!

My son and I stayed here on a recent visit to Universal Studios. The hotel restaurant and the staff are fine but the room we stayed in was unbelievably noisy with slamming doors, the tv next door, outside traffic etc. We didn’t sleep a wink.

not impressed the sheets were dirty as if they just made the bed using the old ones.

This hotel was very noisey all night long. I barely slept throughout the night because you could hear people screaming and every move people in their rooms above you. When i unmade one of the beds to sleep in there were black marks on the sheets like they hadn’t washed them. I would not recommend this hotel.

Good Balance of Value and Comfort

We stayed in a double queen room with my toddler. The room was small, but not unreasonably so. The microwave and fridge were convenient. Other reviews said the hotel was old and shabby. I did not find this to be the case. The cosmetic upgrades make it more modern and very comfortable. A good value for the area, especially with parking included. The hotel is close to all of the Hollywood hot spots. The best part of the hotel is the diner. We ate there almost exclusively, and we didn’t have a bad meal. And we had no repeats. Well prepared. Nice ingredients. Excellent people watching. Open until 3 a.m. Good stuff. I wasn’t a fan of the coffee but my husband thought it was fine. There was a coffee maker in the room, so next time, I would consider bringing my own. I have only 2 minor criticisms. One is that they have a fancy flat panel TV in the room with HBO, but the reception on every other channel was REALLY poor. So just watching the local news to get weather was really a challenge. The ONLY channel that came in clear was HBO. Not really helpful, especially with a kid in the room. The other foible was that there was no screen or lock on the bathroom window. I kept it closed it to keep the creatures out, and our toddler in, but it would have been helpful to have it open for cross ventilation. But none of these are deal breakers for me and I would totally stay here again.

Bring a portable DVD player. Sometimes you need to entertain your child while you get stuff done, like pack up or have a shower. Since there’s poor reception on the 2 kid friendly stations, we were glad we had movies. Also, our room had no bath tub. Our kid is fine with showers, but if it’s not the norm for you, it’s good to know in advance.

In the heart of things

The location has pros and cons. It is convenient and in the heart of it all. It is right next to the freeway (big freeway view from my room). It is walking distance from Hollywood and Vine and many attractions. However the area is somewhat seedy. That’s just the way Hollywood is. We had just a few short hours to take in Hollywood so it worked for us. It’s not glamorous by any means but the room was well sized, well appointed and certainly clean and safe.

Traveler's tip on dining

The coffee shop attached to the hotel has a good breakfast special.

Great Hotel with Great Price

My wife and I booked a last minute room for 1 night. We got there at about 11 p.m. and the concierge was very nice. He gave us great advice on what to do for a few late night hours in Hollywood. The room was very clean and surprising well taken care of considering it’s an older hotel. Bathroom had granite countertops. Our room was well docorated and comfortable. We’ll definitely stay there again. All this and it was one of the least expensive rooms we found through Expedia.

Traveler's tip on dining

The concierge suggested the diner in the hotel and said there were sometimes celebreties there. The food was okay, price was modest and we ate 10 feet from Johnny Knoxville (Dukes of Hazard and Jacka**). COOL!

Loved It!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for what was my first trip to LA. The location was convenient, parking the rental was a breeze, the staff was friendly and helpful, and it was extremely affordable. The rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, bathrooms were amazing! Who knew Best Westerns might feature a double-headed shower? We did go down to Cafe 101 for breakfast, and it was stellar as well. Whenever we get a chance to travel back to LA, this is where we will stay.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Hollywood Boulevard is within walking distance from the hotel. We’re from Chicago, so "walking distance" might mean something different to you, but we were on Hollywood Boulevard within 15-20 minutes. There’s obviously the sightseeing, but also great restaurants with outdoor patios that make for great people watching. Try Loteria Grill and their freshly made margaritas.

Fun and funky hotel...

Very clean room, great, fun decor! Excellent location and the cafe downstairs, Cafe 101, was where part of the movie,"Swingers" was filmed! Pretty cool...AND the food is good and cheap.

Traveler's tip

Walking distance to the Walk of Fame and other Hollywood Blvd. attractions. We were staying at the hotel so that we could see a band at Avalon and not have to drive anywhere that night. It was a 3-block walk! Excellent!

Cool Atmosphere and Great Location

This is a good quality hotel in a nice neighborhood, and its a only a block away from Hollywood Blvd! There’s an area of bars and restaurants within walking distance, if you want to do something more low key than going out to Hollywood Blvd or Sunset Blvd. I booked a room with a king size bed. I found my room to be spacious and with some nice amenities - kitchen area, couch, large bathroom with granite countertops and dual sinks. The rooms are decorated with Hollywood memorabilia - celebrity collages and autographed guitars hanging on the walls. My one complaint was that the hair dryer didn’t work and a light in the bathroom obviously needed repair. However, I never complained to the staff about this, so I don’t know if they would have fixed this right away or not. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel.

Very Nice rooms, but common areas / elevator shabby

During the Christmas break, we stayed here for a couple of days while visiting Universal studios (about 3 miles away). We loved the room interiors. The common areas (pool area, pool furniture, especially elevator) looked shabby /old. The 101 cafe was nice.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Avoid staying in this place on New Year’s eve. Room Rates are high (2.5 times the usual rate), parking is tough to find and some of the guests were noisy, "yapping away" in the common area through the night, making it hard for every one else to sleep. On other days the rooms were quiet, parking was easy and the room rates reasonable.

Bring your own hot water and parking place

Convenient location. However, limited parking in garage so had to park in dirt lot both nights. Shower ran out of hot water after the first person used it.
