In a word, the Ulysses is eclectic! Very dim lighting throughout the hotel and interesting decor. Bed was awesome although room was small and tight. Bathroom could have been an art piece in any museum. A bit out of the main thoroughfare, but well worth a visit. They need to add bar munchies!!!

While the uniqueness of the hotel is evident from the minute you step inside, there are some important things to note before booking that are not disclosed on the website or anywhere... Particularly, while the dark atmosphere has been reported by other travelers, there is no coffee machine, no minifridge, no telephone, no clocks, no safe and no water in the rooms. We were advised that a minifridge would be found in one of the 4 suites only. Nor is there any chest of drawers to unpack any clothing you may have brought. The site states that there is a restaurant and bar which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, there is no breakfast (merely pastries (not complimentary), no lunch at all and a "light" dinner menu. No-one was in the restaurant at all during our 2 night stay. The staff at the hotel, while very nice, could not help with any questions we had with regard to where to eat in the area, how to connect to the wi-fi in the hotel, etc. We found a "grocery-liquor" store around the corner in order to buy basic supplies (such as a bottle of water) but had to dodge people hanging around the doorway and peeing on the steps. Again, the hotel itself, while "quirky" was clean, the beds very comfortable, but for $300.00 per night, the staff and simple amenities are sorely lacking. The hotel website should be updated to provide clear room descriptions so that travelers from out of the immediate area can be prepared for what they're in for.

Cool vibes and old school decor in a historic building. Located in the Mt. Vernon neighborhood, I would stay here again as its in a quiet more residential neighborhood with plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Highly recommend.

Great hotel with a hospitable staff. Two cons: I wish the rooms had more lighting. They’re very dark. Blooms Bar, the AC was way too cold and the hostess couldn’t adjust. This made the otherwise great night enjoying a cocktail very uncomfortable.

Our stay at the Ulysses Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality and warmth of the staff were evident. A very unique property with great personality! Loved it. The front desk staff were so friendly and helpful. The drinks were amazing. The restaurant is undergoing some changes and we were disappointed we did not have a dining option as advertised. However, I would definitely return and highly recommend the hotel.
