"The location of Hotel Ballast is very nice, located on the river with a beautiful view of the sunset. It’s well maintained with the most helpful and friendly staff. One evening, a neighboring room had some rowdy kids running around and banging on the walls around midnight. I texted the front desk and within two minutes (not an exaggeration) they addressed it and the neighbors settled their kids down. I was completely impressed with their professionalism in this situation. I would certainly return for another visit to Wilmington!"

"The elevator was broken. Had to take stairs from 4th floor for 2 days. Keurig coffee machine broken in room and they couldn’t replace it so they wanted us to change rooms for a working keurig. The room was not cleaned on second day. House keeping was absent. Front desk was not occupied. Horrible hotel and stay. Do not recommend."

"We booked a reservation online and it was confirmed, only to arrive at the hotel and be told that the desk attendant had cancelled it because she believed the hotel was full. We asked her to confirm and she rudely told us she was the only person there. When we inquired about different room types that may be available, she told us there would be a significant cost increase. She was extremely unhelpful and we ended up booking at another hotel. "

"Not worth the price. I stayed here plenty of times when it was Blockade Runner. Trailborn has doubled the price and I don’t really see the “upgrades” in the actual room. Shower is a regular tub combo and water pressure is non existent. Thought I’d give it a shot since you can’t beat walking out of your room straight to the beach. I’ve stayed in much nicer places for nowhere near the cost. At least give me a balcony. Nope. It’s clean and the beds are comfy. As soon as I pulled up, the concierge reversed into someone’s vehicle. Won’t be back and I really used to love this place. "

"This was a nice pet friendly room that was very clean. We had an issue getting into our room but the staff were very responsive and immediately helped us get in. Location is good as it is just a short walk to the boardwalk and beach. Only downside was that we could hear our upstairs neighbors pretty easily. Also, the photos show cool outdoor chairs but not all units have them. Overall, if you're looking for somewhere to stay in the area with a pet I would recommend this place."

"Clean room and nice set up with decor. They were doing painting and renovations to the pool which was properly noted on the website. Close to shops and restaurants. Quiet hotel for a nice getaway."
