Preferred check in was fast and easy. Staff was helpful and friendly. Rooms were nice. Food was good. Beach had quite a bit of seaweed but sounds like that was the case at most resorts. You have to get up early to get pool lounge chairs. Only other complaint was at El Patio our first night our main course never arrived. Luckily we ate so many appetizers it was okay but would have liked to have tried our main course meals. Overall a good trip.

If you choose resorts based on the beach experience, I won’t recommend Dreams Rivera Cancún. The resort was very well maintained, unfortunately, the seaweed situation was not well managed. We paid extra for the Preferred Club which put us right on the edge of the property which was next to a vacant property where the seaweed was permitted to build up and build up. They were using tractors and dump trucks to pull the seaweed out the week we were there and the smell was like death. We saw at least three dump truck loads of seaweed loaded up and it barely made a dent in the remaining seaweed. From our balcony, it was rancid smelling. The beach was even worse smelling, but it was near impossible to get a beach chair anyway. People would start saving chairs at 7 am, then not show up until 11 am or noon to actually use the chairs. If Dreams had the seaweed situation under better control, as well as the beach chair situation, this would have been a 5/5 review because the food, bars, staff, resort, rooms, entertainment, etc. were all on par with previous stays at Dreams.

This was taken after three dump truck loads of seaweed were taken away from the neighboring property.

Everything was wonderful! My only disappointments were the French Restaurant food wasn't up to French standards for cuisine. Also, the sargassum on the beach was very smelly and I am wondering if there could be more attention paid to raking it and hauling it away. Thank you.

The hotel is great, the beach is great as well. I just have a comment regarding the quality of the food and drinks, unfortunately even in the restaurants the food is acceptable but not so great. The quality of the alcohol options is standard-low, I would like they could offer higher quality for beer, tequila, etc.

Excellent resort, very clean - bleaching the pool deck daily, amazing food and no reservations required for à la carte which removes the stress of lining up to book dinner. Highly recommend for families! Sargassum was loaded on the beach and they try their best to remove it daily.

It was very cold on the plane, and I had a hard time because I hadn’t brought a jacket. The resort was clean and spacious, and I enjoyed the delicious cuisine from various countries. The staff were friendly. However, the air conditioning wasn’t working properly, so it was cold.

We took a chance trying a new resort and this did not disappoint. The resort is beautiful and the food was a pleasant surprise! Many options and all were very good. The staff is so friendly and they go above and beyond to make you feel at home. They always had activities to all ages around the pool. It felt a little crowded at first but we got used to it. I wish the view of the ocean was a little better but I think this is how most resorts are and that's not a deal breaker for us. Very beautiful resort. Some people didn't recommend this for couples without children but my husband and I really enjoyed it(we're 34&40). We would definitely like to come back here for another trip.

The room was exactly as described. Beach was full of seaweed and unusable. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Cocktails were bottom shelf liquor with limited selections. Spa experience not worth the money. Food very good at the restaurants. Breakfast buffet was average. Fitness center was excellent. Weddings each night so very little entertainment for the hotel guest, just had the DJ music from the wedding receptions. Overall, good value for the price but for myself, as a 50 year old looking to relax on vacation, this would not be a property we will return to

Overall, this is a good place to rest and relax. The staff was wonderful—every person we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and professional. Service throughout the hotel was excellent, especially at the VIP Club, where the team was truly outstanding. The food was okay, but the buffet could use more variety. I’ve been visiting Cancun for over 10 years and have stayed at many all-inclusive resorts, and one thing that stood out was the limited liquor selection. Some common brands, such as Maestro Dobel, were not available—even in the VIP area but sold at a ridiculous price during night events. The nighttime entertainment could also be improved. Shows were scheduled during dinner hours, which made it difficult to enjoy them, especially when traveling with a large group. In addition, the lobby bar closing at 11 PM felt early for an all-inclusive resort. Another inconvenience was that restaurants could not accommodate larger parties (12+ people) unless an extra fee was paid. Despite these points, the excellent service from the staff made the stay enjoyable.

We had an ocean front suite, and it was perfect. Very private balcony and a beautiful view. The staff at this property couldn't be better. Everyone from check in, waiters, beach service, hostess, maids, bartenders, concierge. Everyone was so nice and attentive. This was our 2nd visit to this resort, and we do plan to return.

Not a dream, an absolute NIGHTMARE! Calling this is a 5 star resort is an absurd lie. All photos are digitally enhanced. 100% FALSE ADVERTISING. The bathrooms have wall-mounted beer bottle openers. Need I say more? This place is absolute trash. I CRIED when we checked in. The room smelled of urine (staff didn’t help), walls are paper thin (you can literally hear a person clearing their throat), everything is dirty, old, food is atrocious! Nothing but WonderBread and composite-ham meat, even in the “VIP” lounge. Food is a cruel joke, seemingly designed to be so unappealing that no one dares go for seconds. They pack people in this compound like cheap sardines and there’s hardly anywhere to even stand in the pool areas. Absurdly loud music blasts day and night. Mosquitos everywhere!! My 5 month old was nearly eaten alive INSIDE THE ROOM! All windows were closed! They do not spray the grounds! We booked this place last-minute as all other nearby options were adults-only. Never staying at this type of place again. The “all-inclusive” concept draws the worst kind of people… everyone behaved like wild animals and seemed to suffer from an extreme scarcity mentality. Rude, disrespectful, disgusting.

I can’t believe they thought this was acceptable… and this is the VIP lounge!

The rooms have wall-mounted beer bottle openers. Including in the bathroom!! Trash!!!!

Staff make your experience! Dreams is beautifully appointed and all the staff are friendly, helpful and soo polite. Gabriel at the concierge desk was my angel helping make a special birthday surprise for my brother's 70th. Great Resort, expedia VIP lounge also worth it!
