Downtown Main St. Views of the Cumbres pass. Walk to the train, shops & dining.

Downtown location...Awaken to the whistles of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, smell the smoke and catch a glimpse of it pass by while drinking coffee on the front porch. The house is very spacious, comfortable and very well furnished. The house is decorated with local and southwest art & decor and antiques throughout and is your own private art gallery and antique shop, with most items available for your purchase as a gift, a souvenir of your trip or just to add to your own personal collection.

The kitchen has everything you would want or need. Linens and towels are provided, as well as laundry on site. Spare air mattresses and some infant/toddler items are also available.

There's a school playground and basketball courts across the street. Only a 4-6 minute walk to the train station, dining and shopping. A short bike ride to the Chama River or Sergent's Wildlife. Access to the river is a short hike across the street and over the train tracks. Mountain biking, road biking, fishing, hunting, hiking, photography, horseback riding, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing all minutes away.

Jicarilla Casino is 30 minutes west.

Ghost Ranch is 40 minutes south.

Pagosa Springs, CO is 45 min to 1 hour north depending on conditions. Enjoy the beautiful vistas and roaming wildlife on the way, and even stop at the Wildlife Park just outside Pagosa. In Pagosa, you can take a tube down the river, soak in the river from the town park, soak in the famous Pagosa Hot Springs, hike, mountainbike, ski/snowboard at Wolf Creek which gets some of the most snow in the lower 48 followed by soaking in the hot springs, and shop the local art and antique galleries.

Durango, CO with the Durango Silverton Railroad, Mesa Verde National Park, shopping and skiing/snowboarding is 1.5 to 2 hrs away. Durango has an airport. You will pass thru Pagosa to get there.

Taos and Santa Fe, known for their arts and skiing are 2 hrs away, east and south respectively. Santa Fe also has an airport.

Albuquerque, 3 hrs south, has the closest International airport, plenty of casinos and its Skytram into the Sandia Mountains.

Beautiful vistas and wildlife make driving enjoyable to and from this central location!

First time in Chama
Visted Chama for the Cumbres Train. This house was a great location, close to the train station, and restaurants near by. The house was super cute and overall fairly clean. The beds were comfortable and rooms were spacious. We loved the balcony upstairs to hang out and star gaze. All the rooms were upstairs and the stairs were pretty narrow to go up and down with luggage. There was a total of 4 of us and we were very comfortable.

Chama delight
The property was conveniently located so that we could walk to the train and to town. It was full of artifacts, art and history as well as everything you might need for your stay. Communication with the owner was easy and informative. The Chama train was spectacular with the fall foliage. We enjoyed our 2 night stay very much.

Chama House
Interior of the house was very nice and clean. The exterior could use some work. The front porch looks like it's ready for Holloween with all the cobwebs on it. Thanks for the extra pillows and comfortable beds. The shower in the master bedroom is starting to show wear and could be upgraded.

Will go back again
This is a beautiful home with beautiful furnishings. Felt right at home when we got there. Could use a little cleaning out of the refrigerator/kitchen drawers. I usually like the house very cool and had a hard time getting the house to cool down. Good thing the weather was cool and it helped to have the windows open at night. Wouldn't be comfortable in hotter weather. Will definitely consider staying here again.
