Cortes Beachfront Home w/Hot Tub & Kayak on 5 Wooded Acres

Cortes Beachfront Home w/Hot Tub & Kayak on 5 Wooded Acres

8/10 Good
"If you are looking for a quiet getaway on a remote island, but still want all the comforts of home, Sue's Cortes Beachfront Home is a perfect place to stay. The place was clean, the bed was comfortable and the view was fantastic. The Beach Home is a nice balance between rustic and comfortable convenience. The driveway is a little hard to see when you first drive by, but follow Sue's directions and you'll be fine. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need, which was really handy since there are very few places to go out for a meal on Cortes. If you are staying for more than a couple nights, I'd say come prepared to make your own meals; there is a BBQ on the deck as well. The living area was relaxing and the internet worked just fine. The highlight for me was the record player! I didn't expect that. Yes, a functional turntable with good speakers and an eclectic selection of LP's. (Elvis, Tom Jones, Tijuana Brass etc.) Outside, the deck is big and offers a beautiful view of the inlet. The Hot Tub is on the deck and is very very nice as you can enjoy the view right from the tub. However, we did have one unfortunate incident. When removing the Hot Tub cover, I leaned it up against the deck rail. A wind came up and blew the cover right down on my wife's head while she was in the tub. She was stunned and sore, but okay. So, lean the cover up against the house! Also, bring flip flops for the deck, my wife got a big sliver from walking in bare feet."

The Garden House - Unique spacious stay in Whaletown

The Garden House - Unique spacious stay in Whaletown

8/10 Good
"The hosts were very friendly, helpful and had great communication. The property was very clean and beautifully rustic. Just a heads up for those travelling with more than two people and those that value privacy- the bathroom doesn’t have an actual door (just separated by curtain) nor does the bedroom. No fault of the hosts just something we had to get used to as four adults. The toilet will take some getting used to with the flushing but we had no problems. Just has to be diligent with the tissue paper in the garbage. The kitchen was beautifully stocked with a gorgeous table and stove."
