Our group stayed at La Posada during a women’s retreat. The location was great, and most of the staff were wonderful. Unfortunately, the condition of the hotel and our room experiences left quite a bit to be desired.
The hotel is definitely dated, and the rooms themselves are very tired, dark, and in need of updating. During the first part of my stay, my room had a few spots of dog feces on the carpet. While it appeared that the mess had been picked up, the carpet clearly had not been properly cleaned or shampooed.
I stayed at La Posada again toward the end of the trip, and unfortunately, that experience wasn't much better. My second room appeared to be located under rooftop mechanical equipment. There was a constant, loud rattling noise coming through the wall that made it difficult to sleep. Even the bathroom fan, which also controlled the light, was so incredibly loud that I couldn't use it.
Additionally, four people in our group had issues with their room heaters not working. In my room, the thermostat went from 64 degrees the first night to 61 degrees by the last night, leaving me wearing a sweater to bed.
On a positive note, the front desk and valet staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel also offers complimentary shuttle service within a two-mile radius, which was a great perk. Austin, our shuttle driver, was especially fantastic!
I absolutely love Santa Fe, and the locals are amazing! I'll definitely be back, but unfortunately, I'll be staying elsewhere.
