Hong Kong Hotel & Resort Travel Guide

Hong Kong is the world's most vertical city and offers visitors a spectacular skyline with modern architecture that is contrasted with one of the world's deepest natural harbors. This city has a population of more than 7 million, which makes this metropolis densely populated, yet it has abundant natural beauty as well. As a Special Administrative Region of China, Hong Kong is known as the place where "East meets West."

Many visitors to Hong Kong are surprised to learn that only about 25 percent of the land area is developed. The view from Hong Kong hotels encompasses the nearby hilly and mountainous terrain as well as the Pearl River Delta, Shenzhen River, and South China Sea. Rooms with a view are just one of the pleasures of visiting this city.

With a bustling international airport, Hong Kong is also the world's second largest container port and the world leader in international cargo. While Hong Kong is an expensive city to live in, visitors who book a trip in advance through Expedia can enjoy an affordable and exciting vacation no matter what their budget.

When staying in hotels in Hong Kong, visitors should be sure to spend time exploring both the urban areas of the Kowloon Peninsula as well as the nature preserves and parks. Public transportation is the best way to get around. Many of the best Hong Kong hotels provide visitors with maps to help navigate the city. With low local tax rates, Hong Kong hotel packages are economical for individuals and families alike. In this city, tourists can find everything from silk saris in the open air markets to handcrafted jade jewelry in the pearl district.

Travelers searching for cheap hotel deals in Hong Kong should be prepared to make reservations in advance by using Expedia. Discount rates may be available during less popular times of the year, such as during the hot and humid summer months. Prices for many Hong Kong hotel deals include extra services such as concierge and Internet service. To find a cheap Hong Kong hotel deal, be flexible about arrival and departure times. Some of the top deals offer substantial savings for traveling at off-peak times.

"Hong Kong in the wet season"
This hotel has a Club Floor and associated Club Room. Well worth the extra. As it was the wet season we asked if we could have a room overlooking Hong Kong Harbour. This was forthcoming at a small extra cost. Great for sightseeing from our windows in the rain.

"Great hotel in the middle of everywhere"
Stayed at the Mira based on a friends recommendation. It was great to see that the hotel lived up to the hype. The room was fantastic although I wish the city view was better. Also, the staff was accommodating and very polite. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat!!!

    "Great location and view"
The hotel was a great choice in terms of location. It is right at the edge of Kowloon, next to the Peninsula hotel. It is right in the busy tourist area of Tsim Sha Tsui, so you can do all your shopping and dining and just walk back to your calm hotel room in minutes. It is also a short walk to the subway station and the Harbour ferry terminal. So, it is easy to take the scenic ferry to the Hong Kong Island side, or take the subway to anywhere in Hong Kong. We had a Harbour view room, and the view was great. Because it was at the edge of the Kowloon, the view was mostly unobstructed. The BEST part of the hotel was the free phone that came with this room. This allows free unlimited local calls and unlimited data usage. I was a little miffed that the hotel did not provide free internet in the room (in this day and age, that is like having your bathroom out in the hall). But I was able to use the tethering function on the free phone, and thus was able to enjoy full internet access using my own phone, my wife's phone and my PC. We carried the phone around town in my bag, and had internet access on our own iPhones everywhere! Was a life saver finding certain restaurants and shops with Google Maps. Highly recommended. The only downside for most hotels (everywhere in the world really) is the old style toilets. We live in Japan, and our Toto toilet is about 10 times better than we find at most 5 star hotels. They really need to update.
