Marktplatz Manor | Pet Friendly | 1 Block to Main

The wonderful house is conveniently located just one block from Main and an easy walk to Marktplatz, shopping and restaurants. Being in the historic district, guests will find this Tudor style home built in 1927 full of memories in its architecture and the many period built in features found inside the house. Three bedrooms are found in this elegant home.

Two bedrooms are both elegant and spacious. Each bedroom offers a uniquely and tastefully appointed King bed along with 42” flat screen TVs. A private bath for the two bedrooms has a tiled shower and pedestal sink. The third bedroom invites you to enjoy the King size bed with pillow top mattress and the 42' flat screen television found in the armoire. A comfortable chair and ottoman are perfect for reading or just relaxing. This room offers a private vintage bath with a tub/shower combination.

The living/dining room is both breathtakingly beautiful and comfortable for guests to enjoy and cherish whether it be your family during the holidays or friends creating wonderful new memories. The Tuscan red living room offers elegant and comfy seating. There is also a spacious dining room with a 55” flat screen TV plus a full kitchen with two additional dining areas.

There is a day bed with trundle in the library room. There is also a single sleeper in the Baroness-Empress bedroom. This house is a wonderful property to enjoy family and friend weekends plus is conveniently located to just about everything.

Please note:
- Streaming services are available, but guests must log-in using their own accounts

- The home is pet friendly and will accept up to two dogs. However, there is a pet fee of $27/dog/night (before tax). Due to the fact that HomeAway/VRBO does not allow us to charge for more than one dog at the time of booking, please let us know if you will be bringing more than one dog, so that we can make sure that you are charged the correct amount. If you bring more than one dog and do not let us know, you will be charged accordingly. Furthermore, please bring crates for your dogs and crate them in your absence from the house, do not allow the dogs on furniture or beds, and pick up and properly dispose of their waste. If these rules are not followed, there will be an additional $200 charge added to your reservation.

Very enjoyable stay

Everything was perfect. We enjoyed our weekend away with extended family. Plenty of room for everyone. We really enjoyed sitting on the front porch (it has a retractable awning). We would definitely stay again.

Great location!

This house is in the perfect spot to enjoy Fredericksburg. Check in and out was very easy. Everything is exactly as described and was comfortable for 6 adults. There are a few basic things missing from the kitchen but we took a quick trip to HEB.

Christmas with our family!

We loved the house. The appliances were wonderful, we cooked a complete Christmas lunch/dinner with no problem. The furnishings are beautiful and very comfortable. When we arrived we loved the fact that the Christmas tree was lighted and everything was so well lighted and welcoming.

The location was great with ample parking spots and rooms were large. The decor and furnishings are a bit dated, and there is quite a bit of cosmetic wear around the house. The house could also use some outlet strips. But, the beds were comfortable and there were several spaces for us to all gather together in the evenings. We did really envoy the house.

Bed and No Breakfast

Sign outside house still says Bed and Breakfast. Either change sign or include breakfast. TV in Contessa Suite had no sound. Ceiling fan in Empress Suite Shook so bad that one of the lights flew off. Sound of loud music playing until 2:00 A.M. heard from Hondo's right behind house. Coupon for earrings was totally unexpected. Beautiful earrings for all five of us. House was furnished beautifully and beds were comfortable. Location was great. Very close to all shops and restaurants. Would certainly stay there again.

Nice place and convenient location, but not user friendly. Too many what nots everywhere--no place to put anything. Bathrooms too small--no flat areas to put DOP kits, curling irons, make-up materials, etc.; water drains in bathroom showers and tubs drain extremely slow. Bed side lamps disconnected--had to find a plug to connect. Lack of electrical outlets--no place to charge iPhones, except in living room. Bath towel rack loose in hall bath. Front screen door would not latch. Will not stay there again unless there is no other place available. Grade: C--.

Marktplatz Manor

Gasthaus Schmidt was easy to work with, providing prompt responses to emails and all the info needed for check-in or emergency contacts. The location of Marktplatz Manor is fantastic – only one block over from Main Street with its many shops, restaurants, and wine tasting opportunities. Beds are comfortable, many towels provided, lots of dishes and glassware in the kitchen. Many basic toiletries and even some food items are provided (possibly left by past guests?). I notified management that the electric wine cork removal device did not work even after being recharged overnight. The photos are very accurate and depict the old-fashioned but charming décor, but there are a few inaccuracies in the text descriptions. The bedroom with a private entrance is not the one with a private bath; it shares a bathroom (with tub). The bedroom with a private bath does not have a tub, only a shower. The big disappointment was the hot tub which was a “selling point” when selecting this property. The water level was low, and the water smelled very stagnant. As a result, we were unable to make use of this amenity.

Family Christmas

If this has been a girls getaway this property may have been okay. For a family Christmas it was not a good fit. There was no communal room where all eight of us could gather and watch tv. The dining room and all the bedrooms had tvs but there wasn’t room for everyone. The restrooms were so filled with leftover toiletries, we had to clear them out for our own. The drains were so slow it was disturbing. The kitchen and the cabinets were also filled with expired food. They really couldn’t decide what season to decorate. There were Easter, Thanksgiving and one Christmas decoration left out. You could just tell this house is a money maker with no care given to the scuffed up walls, dirty and chipped paint. It is really sad. The construction around the area made it harder for us to get around with carriages. There is also a pretty loud restaurant right behind the house. The live music didn’t bother us, but it wasn’t ideal with a baby that was trying to sleep. We have stayed at a lot of places for our family getaways and we have never stayed at a place like this before. It is sad because it could have been a very sweet place.

We had a lovely stay. It was easy to get to Oktoberfest…only two blocks away. One block to the the most central part of Main Street. Check in super easy. The house was as clean as you can get a house that old. The decor and design make you feel like you’re visiting grandma. But there was really no place in the main room to sit that was comfortable. That furniture was pretty worn! The beds were great though! There was plenty of room for all six of us. All in all we would stay there again just to be in the heart of fredricksburg. Thanks for a great stay.

Sista girl trip

Our annual friends trip took us to Fredericksburg this past month. The house was exactly as it was pictured and described. It is in walking distance to Main Street and shopping. A fun time was had by all.

Great Access to the city

The location of this property is perfect. The overall decor, mattresses, painting and seating needs to be updated. Second bathroom is small to maneuver in. Suggest adding multi outlet strips for electronic device charging.
