“No smoke detector in room, wallpaper and plaster hanging from bathroom ceiling. Closet doors couldn’t close. Bathroom fixtures from the 40’s. Mattress needs replacing. Very strange set of doorways into the room. 1st door had a lock but there was a 2ft opening leading into the stairwell, above the door frame. This door led to a short hallway, a lockable bathroom door and another locking door to a room with a bed. Very strange an somewhat uncomfortable. I felt like I was in a low end rooming……

“Well, the room was nice. The problem was it was on the third floor of a house that was 2 full blocks away from the Salem Inn. I'm a fairly in shape 72 year old, but I had to roll my 35 pound suitcase those 2 blocks, which was fine. What wasn't fine, I was on the 3rd floor. Had to drag my suitcase up 2 long staircases to get to my room. No elevator, and no staff to help. It would have been nice to have known that before booking this hotel. I know it is old time Salem, but a heads up would have……

“Everything was lovely. Great owners. Be aware that Salem does not allow for inns to cook full breakfasts for guests. If you are allergic to or sensitive to cats, be aware that the owners have several cats.”

“Daniels House Inn is a beautiful home with lots of history and character. We stayed in the Great Room and loved it. The room had a very comfy king-sized adjustable bed that was great after long days of walking the town! The property is very close to all of the shops and attractions in Salem. We always try to find accommodations with history and this home has tons of antiques and other interesting historical documents and such. Would stay here again if we ever make it back to Salem!”
