Stayed there for one night after dropping off my daughter at Virginia Tech. Really pretty property, pool is well maintained, and breakfast (made by Sherry!) was fantastic - get the ham cups! Great stay, responsive owner (we accidently locked ourselves out of our room and Paul was super helpful) overall would highly recommend

Overall, I would give my stay a 6/10. When you first walk into the hotel, the lobby is very nice and the overall aesthetics give a great first impression. The breakfast was definitely one of the highlights—there was a nice selection and the food was really good. However, I was disappointed with the cleanliness of my room. There was quite a bit of hair in different areas, which made me feel like the room could have been cleaned much more thoroughly before we checked in. Some things in the room also felt a little dated. I also think adding streaming options or smart TVs would be a great upgrade for guests. Our first night was also extremely scary because the fire alarm went off after a guest caused smoke to fill the second floor. I completely understand that this was outside of the hotel’s control, so I do not hold the hotel responsible for the incident itself. However, I had my disabled mother and my son on the fifth floor, and trying to safely evacuate them was extremely difficult and frightening. It was an experience I will never forget. Overall, there were definitely some positives—the lobby was beautiful and the breakfast was great—but the room cleanliness and some needed updates are the main reasons I would rate my stay a 6 out of 10.
