Legian Beach is an island paradise withsoft white sand and clear, warm water. Lie back on a day bed or get active inthe surf away from the massive crowds of nearby Kuta Beach.
Walk some of the length of the3-kilometre (1.8-mile) beach and feel the soft sand between your toes. Legianis ideal for sunbathing and surfing, although there are safer swimming beachesin Bali that are more suitable for children. If you want to get active, walk 10 minutes north to SeminyakBeach or south to Kuta. You’ll see luxury resorts lining the beach alongsiderestaurants and cafés. Stop for a cocktail or snack on traditional Balineseseafood and rice dishes.
Come back to Legian Beach after dark toplay football and beach volleyball. Sip cold beers as you listen to live music.The party scene here is more laidback than the nightclubs in Kuta.
The best time to come to Legian Beach isbetween May and October. This is when the surfing conditions are best becausethe weather is dry and the wind blows from east to west. Hire surfboards, shadeumbrellas and lounge chairs from vendors along the beachfront. You’ll also findpublic showers and bathrooms here.
Legian Beach is 20 minutes by car ortaxi from Ngurah Rai International Airport. Stay in Kuta or Seminyak and walkto Legian to avoid the traffic jams that clog the surrounding roads. The walkis only 10 minutes from either beach. Many visitors choose to come by motorbikeand park along the beachfront.
