Legian Beach is an island paradise withsoft white sand and clear, warm water. Lie back on a day bed or get active inthe surf away from the massive crowds of nearby Kuta Beach.

Walk some of the length of the3-kilometre (1.8-mile) beach and feel the soft sand between your toes. Legianis ideal for sunbathing and surfing, although there are safer swimming beachesin Bali that are more suitable for children. The waves here are powerful andthe swells long, but the ocean’s soft sandy bottom and consistent waves makesit perfect for learning how to surf. Hire a board or sign up for lessons from asurf school.

One of the most popular activities onLegian Beach is to do nothing at all. Lie on the sand with a book and spend theday relaxing. If you want to get active, walk 10 minutes north to SeminyakBeach or south to Kuta. You’ll see luxury resorts lining the beach alongsiderestaurants and cafés. Stop for a cocktail or snack on traditional Balineseseafood and rice dishes.

Come back to Legian Beach after dark toplay football and beach volleyball. Sip cold beers as you listen to live music.The party scene here is more laidback than the nightclubs in Kuta.

The best time to come to Legian Beach isbetween May and October. This is when the surfing conditions are best becausethe weather is dry and the wind blows from east to west. Hire surfboards, shadeumbrellas and lounge chairs from vendors along the beachfront. You’ll also findpublic showers and bathrooms here.

Legian Beach is 20 minutes by car ortaxi from Ngurah Rai International Airport. Stay in Kuta or Seminyak and walkto Legian to avoid the traffic jams that clog the surrounding roads. The walkis only 10 minutes from either beach. Many visitors choose to come by motorbikeand park along the beachfront.

We had a wonderful 9 nights at the Sebali Resort. The food was excellent throughout our stay with great menu choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The spa was also amazing and we had a couple of great full body massages by the experienced team. Srina, you have magic hands!! All the staff are so polite and accommodating, they are well trained and most speak English very well. There were only two things that weren’t great but one was not the fault of the hotel. The adjacent resort, the Kayon, was expanding and renovating. When you headed to either of the restaurants for meals you could see and hear all the machinery and tools being used. It ruined the atmosphere but it became amusing for my husband and I to watch the building practices. We thankfully couldn’t hear any of the construction work from our room, so we had a very peaceful stay and enjoyed listening to the sound of the waterfall as we fell asleep or relaxing by our pool. The only other issue for us was the bed. It was very hard, but Patek from housekeeping did his best to add an extra layer of softness for us. We still had a wonderful time and would return to the property, but would suggest the management invest in some new mattresses and maybe some sun cover by the private pools.
