Visit the MacArthur Center, a modern shopping facility at the cultural and geographical center of Norfolk. It offers a range of stores and dining options, as well as a theater and many special events throughout the year.
Arrive at the shopping center and admire its elegant redbrick façade, featuring a large terrace and a movie theater marquee. In the evening, the marquee and the name of the mall light up on the brick front of the center. Check the schedule for the latest movies and find your seat in one of the 18 cinema screening rooms.
Head into the mall and begin exploring the eclectic variety of shops, trying out the latest in fashion. You’ll also find book shops, department stores and jewelry hubs. Take a break in one of the international restaurants in the food court, which contains fast-food establishments, pizzerias, cafés and sushi bars, among other options.
Bring your family to browse in an art gallery or play glow-in-the-dark miniature golf. The mall also has a children’s play area, with a section filled with arcade games and prizes. Attend one of the myriad events here, including art exhibits and workshops. The Live 360 interactive program offers a wide variety of demonstrations and classes for the community. Find the MacArthur Center marking the center of Norfolk, a little west of Virginia Beach. Access the shopping complex via the stations of Monticello or MacArthur Square or ride a bus to one of the surrounding stops. For drivers, parking is available for a fee in an adjacent garage.
In this downtown district you’ll also find other attractions, such as the Moses Myers House, the Freemason Street Baptist Church and the Wells Theatre.
