"I hate leaving a bad review but The Alma was probably one of the most disappointing stays I've booked in recent memory. They let us check in early and gave us a room with no windows. Unfortunately, it became quite evident that everything in the hotel is style over substance in an attempt to convince you that you aren't staying at a 2-star hotel. I checked my credit card statement and saw I was charged $190\. I called the hotel to ask about this, but the automated system said there was no one to take my call and did not allow me to leave a message. Upon some digging, it appears the charge was for a “resort fee.” The front desk attendant took my card when we checked in. He said it was for incidentals and did not mention anything about a resort fee, nor did they give me a receipt explaining any charges at checkout. I feel like charging a resort fee for a room that has no windows and is in fact not part of a resort, is crazy. The beds and linens are above average, but that's the nicest thing I can say about the property."
