A favorite location among film and television crews, Northern Ireland is split into six different counties, each possessing their own special landscapes, cities and towns. Hike through some of Northern Ireland’s most spectacular mountainous landscapes. Tackle routes in the Morne Mountains, a ring of 12 mountains topped with granite tors, or the Sperrins, a mountain range that spans 40 miles (64 kilometers) and features heather-covered hills, quiet valleys and abundant wildlife.

Step into the set of Game of Thrones by visiting several of the filming locations from the hit television show. Among the most recognizable filming locations are Ballintoy Harbour, the Dark Hedges and Cushendun Caves, to name just a few.

Take a road trip along the incredibly scenic Causeway Coastal Route, which encompasses some of the country’s most famous sights. Stop to see Carrickfergus Castle, built in 1177, or walk the rope bridge at Carrick-a-Rede island, which rewards brave crossers with wonderful views out to sea. No journey along this route would be complete without a stop at the UNESCO-listed Giant’s Causeway, whose unusual rock formations are associated with local legends.

Wander the bustling streets of the capital, Belfast, and explore Titanic Belfast in the heart of the city, an attraction which retells the fascinating story of the infamous ship from construction through to tragic end. Take a bike tour to see the city’s most significant buildings, such as the Stormont Parliament Buildings and the Edwardian Belfast City Hall.

The three largest airports in Northern Ireland are Belfast International Airport, George Best Belfast City Airport and City of Derry Airport. Rent your own car to make the most of the country’s natural scenery, or ride the extensive network of buses and trains.
