"Location excellent, a short walk from Train Station and a Short walk into York City Centre. Breakfast excellent and room cleaned daily. The only disappointment was our room was street side and the noise from outside during the night was excessive. If you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs or book a riverside room. Rooms street side really need a better sound proofing."

"All in all it was a nice stay. Only a couple of reasons for not giving 5 stars - there was rubbish in the bin in our room and some rubbish on the bedside table on our arrival to the room. Also the air conditioning kept coming on and it was very cold and loud and wouldn’t change when adjusting the thermostat. We didn’t spend much time in the hotel so not a big issue for us but could be a problem for some. "

"If you like accommodation with a bit of history and real character about it, this is the place for you Of course the building is old and a bit rickety but that just adds to the charm. The location is perfect, right beside the Cathedral and a five minute stroll to The Shambles and other attractions. It's friendly, clean and the food is excellent. I would definitely stay here again."
