“The only drawback of this hotel is the Storyteller restaurant and lounge. It's such a beautiful room but the options there are so limited if you want to just relax and have a drink or small bite in the afternoon. I was there with my family from 3pm - 5pm and we managed to get coffee and one iced tea but it was not as easy as you'd think for such a lovely room and bar.”

“Really lovely room! We loved the hot tub. We did lose power for a night, which wasn’t ideal, but the host says this happens from time to time. ”

“The room is always clean and tidy. The hot tub in the room was nice as well. The staff are always nice. Hopefully they will add more items to their stores. I feel that the breakfast should be open longer.”

“Super clean, great water pressure in the shower, and plenty of room for 2 people. The hosts are lovely, great with communication and will likely greet you at check in. If you're looking for a quiet and private place for a long weekend, this is a great option. The town of Shokan is super tiny and has very few dining and/or grocery options, so you'd have to head to Woodstock, Kingston or Phoenicia for legit breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinking options, but all are just a 15-25 minute drive away. ”

“Beautiful place tucked back in the woods. Very relaxing and incredibly clean. The free coffee was a nice touch too. Will 100% be returning to The Gunks because of this house. ”
