3. SeaWorld

SeaWorld® San Diego has long been a family favorite for its entertaining marine animals. Plan a multi-day visit to today’s exciting marine park to watch the animal attractions, from otters to orcas and penguins to pinnipeds. Enjoy the many exciting rides, including the Electric Eel roller coaster, with speeds to 60 miles (100 kilometers) per hour and an inverted roll 150 feet (46 meters) in the air. 4. Petco Park

5. Mission Beach

People have beencoming to Mission Beach to top up their tans since the 1920s, when the firstholiday homes were built along its shores. Development increased in the 1960sand today this is a thriving, affluent oceanfront suburb. Thankfully, though,it hasn’t lost its old-fashioned charm. Stroll along the boardwalk that runsthe length of the beach and enjoy the relaxed, carnival atmosphere courtesy ofstreet performers, roller bladers and skateboarders, and the occasional artistselling jewelry or other crafts.

6. USS Midway Museum

Climb aboard the USS Midwayand stand on a colossus of U.S. military history. Before its reincarnation as a museum in 2004, this was the longest-serving aircraft carrier of the 20th century, in operation from September 1945 right up until Desert Storm in 1991. Today, the 972-foot (296-meter) craft is home to over 60 exhibits and welcomes more than 800,000 visitors each year. More than 20 restored aircraft showcase the changing face of warfare via the evolution of this mighty carrier. You can even climb into the cockpit on some of the planes to gain insight into what it may have felt like to actually take to the skies.

7. La Jolla Cove
