“An amazing stay at the Dale Head Hotel! Beautiful location and well-manicured grounds to walk around. There is access to the lake from the property, but not easily - the path is a little over-grown. The Manager, Dale, was lovely and could not have been more helpful. We were there to hike Helvellyn, and he advised us that Swirls Car park (beginning of the hike) is easily accessed from the hotel by a woodland footpath, rather than the main road, or paying for the car park. Loved the windows which could be opened to cool the room and bonus bath to relax in. Friendly bar staff when we had a drink in the pub before bed and lovely lady served us at breakfast. “Changed rooms due to excessive noise of the outside air-conditioning only to get a room which took your breathe away by the heat of the hot water pipe running through the room. Baring in mind it was still very hot outside. It's the first time we've slept in a room which was on par with a sauna. Not at all pleasant or comfortable. Told by reception they couldn't put the water pipe off as it supplied hot water for the other rooms. Very disappointed the room we had. All other parts of the hotel……
