"Overall the hotel was good. We were lucky to be placed in a room that had a view of Edinburgh castle since the back of the hotel was under construction. In terms of cleanliness, it was fairly clean besides a small cockroach we found when eating food in our room. We had complimentary drinks which we decided to get on the day of check out and they said the bar was not open yet and the coffee machine was not working. We weren't given any alternatives. Besides that, we enjoyed our stay."

"Everyone was amazing. Breakfast was plentiful. Lovely splurge for the place and amenities with impeccable staff. Only interesting unusual issue was the floor in the bath gets very hot on your feet near the sink. I wear slippers so it was not an issue but if you do not it could be an issue and need to use a towel to protect your feet. "

"Stayed in pillars house for a night with my two girls. Had the room with 3 single beds and it was super cosy. Decor was a bit dated but we loved that - felt like granny’s house! Lovely and clean and great facilities in the kitchen to use. We would definitely go back to stay. Staff were lovely and friendly. Nothing to dislike. We used public transport and that was easy from pillars house too. "
