The hacienda was beautiful, with its own cenote and underground river. Tours by David were amazing on site, and his advice for activities, restaurants etc. really enhanced our stay.
The restaurant food was excellent - we had breakfast included and also ate one lunch and 2 dinners during our 5 night stay.
This is easily one of the best experiences I have had at a hotel. The owners and staff are the kindest people and made our stay one of the most memorable and special trips for our family. We can’t recommend going here enough! We will be back. Quiet, Clean, adventures in nature, bike trails, food and yoga were all amazing!
Take the tours they offer! Educational, beautiful and fun! One of the most beautiful places I’ve stayed. Breathtaking property, comfortable, clean room, excellent food, (a little pricey but as expected when paying the gringa tax ;) Will return.
This was a really nice tranquil part of our time in Mexico.
We found no need to leave Hacienda Wakax for the four days we were there.
The activities and dining was all we wanted.
In particular the hours spent in and around the Cenotes was great.
Totally recommend this resort.
This hotel is spread out over a large area, making it feel spacious. The paths to the rooms and buildings wind through the jungle and along the edges of a lake and some cenotes. There are places to sit and contemplate, several pools, bicycles you can borrow and lovely open air dining.
Incredibly beautiful and unique. The property is just outstanding and the staff are amazing. I loved the included tour options and Gonzalo is a great tour guide. Swimming/paddleboarding/kayaking in the lagoon was incredibly beautiful and just stunning. You can also go on an amazing underground river tour right there on the property in one of the most incredible cave systems on the planet. I love this place
Really beautiful buildings and surround nature. Great place to stay if there’s seaweed on the beaches (you’re quite far from the beach). Actually very easy to get around using collectivos, you can get a lift to the front gate by the staff. Way cheaper than taxis. Very quiet and the owner’s vision is great.
Recharge your batteries. Absolutely perfect balance of calm quiet and activity. This space has breathtaking natural environment. Gives you space to breathe and relax, but also give opportunities to relax and engage your mind in natural activities Absolutely beautiful
Amazing Hotel ! Very tranquil, except for one night, guest of a wedding party decided to continue their celebration in there rooms and had the entire area up till 5 am, we lost alot of sleep. Hotel staff should have intervene.
But overall it was an amazing beautiful hotel with excellent staff.
For anyone who wants to see Quintana Roo without the typical Tulum/holiday party vibe-this is the place for you! Our trip was mainly to see center Yucatán (Valladolid/Merida…etc) but we also wanted to check out Quintana Roo/Riviera Maya without staying in the typical beach party loud music resorts. If that is what you are looking for then Wakax Hacienda is THE place to go. It turned out to be a magical spot to spend a few days-that we can say it became a highlight of our trip. We even added an extra night and could easily have spent more time.
Poor service, poor communication, main pool closed during our entire 5 night stay, one restaurant only with limited (and expensive) food choices, private terrace was not private, costly to take taxis to other restaurants. We felt trapped. For $600 CAD a night, this was a huge disappointment.
This is truly one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed and the staff was so so friendly. HW is so relaxing and truly euphoric at times. The restaurant is wonderful and so are the drinks - though the menu is limited they are working on putting another restaurant in which I think will be great. The only thing I might say is they need to seal the doors and windows in the rooms because there was one night my boyfriend and I slept without covers and we got absolutely eaten alive by mosquitos (we saw a spider here and there too.) However, the rooms are still beautiful and the air conditioning is everything especially when you’ve spent the day in that jungle heat! We would absolutely return to this resort with friends. Thank you for a memorable experience!
This is the type of situation where I don’t want you to know about the property because I want to keep this all to myself...but that isn’t fair to the people who work there so I will be as open as possible.
If you love peace and serenity, then this is a wonderful place for you. It’s very quiet, and its an ideal place if you are interested in sleeping in, journaling, and relaxing all day.
My favorite part of the Hacienda was the lagoon at the restaurant. My friend and I spent her entire birthday swimming, paddle boarding, taking naps, taking shots, and snapping pictures. I am already looking forward to my return. Everyone on the staff had great energy. Special thank you to the restaurant staff that were attentive and happy to help us.
Go ahead and book.
Upmarket hotel with a rustic look and feel, in the middle of the jungle. The property is huge, clean, and very well maintained, and the rooms are very spacious.
I was surprised that the rooms do not have a TV, but after spending such a tranquile week there, I didn't miss it at all. There are quite a few outdoorsy activities to do within the hotel grounds.
I was initially a bit worried that the hotel is too far away (10 kms) from Tulum, but it wasn't a problem, as we had a rental car. Also, Tulum is not a very nice and inviting town, so I actually preferred to be away from it.
Staff were always professional and friendly. A high standard.
There is only one restaurant, and even though the food is nice, it is not cheap. I would have liked to see some cheaper options available too.
But remember, it's in the jungle, so you will definitely need mosquito repellant, which is complimentary.
At the Hacienda you are transported to a magical place, another place in a seemingly more simple time, more kind, less complicated. Not only because the grounds of the Hacienda are immaculately kept or that the decor is as tasteful as you’d find out of any architectural digest summer edition. The magic flows through everything at the Hacienda, if you’d didn’t know better you’d think the chef was plucked from some famous Michelin starred restaurant or that The famous Gonzalo wasn’t the actual diver himself that discovered Dos Ojos. From the moment I stumbled upon their website looking for a quick getaway for my birthday, I knew this weekend would enchanting.
Nothing was missed, the experience was perfect! Our room was exquisite, the food was devine, the drinks were sublime…I can’t tell you all the secrets of the Hacienda.
We had the honor to spend the morning and early afternoon with the Famous Gonzalo, it was an incredible adventure!
The delicious food & drinks David, Edgar, Armando, Johnni, Pedro, Javier all 5 star! Thank You!
All I can say is that there’s nothing like Hacienda Wakax, staff, quality, natural beauty, location, the details it was an exceptional experience and I won’t ever forget it. You feel like vacation should feel!!
For me it was perfection 10 out of 10.
Thank You again to everyone at the Hacienda for an unforgettable experience and your wonderful care of us and especially Itzel you really made us feel special, thank you.
I almost want to write a horrible review to keep this place a secret for myself, but that wouldn't be fair because this place is heaven on earth. Due to a mix up on my part, we showed up to the property a day early and the reception staff went out of their way to get us a room available even though we weren't scheduled to be there. Everyone was kind and accommodating. The food is outstanding! Seriously! The grounds of this place are like a gift that keeps on giving, cenotes with cold beautiful blue water, a massive lake with free paddle boards, free bikes to explore the property, free yoga, free cave tours, free underwater river tours, and some of the most amazing pools to relax at. I cannot even begin to list off everything that they have to offer here. The property is quiet and serene. The buildings are beautifully built. We spent the day earlier in downtown Tulum, getting hassled/scammed by the policia and when we got to the property we were frazzled, stressed, and a bit angry. Within moments of being a Wakax my friend and I looked at each other and commented on how it had all magically left our beings. We were on vacation again. The details put into this property to ensure that you leave with your spirit, mind, and body are filled with joy and peace are mind blowing. Thank You Wakax Hacienda you are truly a hidden gem, you gave us an unforgettable experience one day earlier than we had actually reserved a room for and it was life altering. Keep up the good work!
The photographs are beautiful, and the reviews were so great - I was looking forward to this. But it was very disappointing. While the property is indeed beautiful, the constant asking for tips from staff made the stay uncomfortable and unpleasant. There is one dining option where the food is very very average, and overpriced, the service extremely slow and the moment your bill arrives, the waiter makes it a point to tell you that tip is not included, and tell you how to add it. Every. Single. Time. It is oppressive. The tour guide on the property was great. and we enjoyed the excursions, but it was clear that even he was waiting for a tip, even tho activities are included. It was just too much, especially given that this place is insanely expensive. (Water is free in the room but costs $7 USD at the cafe. Sometimes, our items weren't on the bill, so we were told to just give cash for the missing items). The area by the lake, near the cafe, is absolutely lovely but there was rock music playing there all the time. So it was not peaceful, even tho it so easily could be. And this is not a party place. Beware that the only way you can leave the place (if you dont have a vehicle) is to have them call a cab. At the minimum you will pay $35 USD for one way. Even for a five minute drive. I love Mexico, but so unhappy with this stay. PS: Beaches of Tulum are overrun with seaweed
