Person painting the house was right outside the bathroom window which had peeling opaque film for privacy. At 8:30 p.m.! A bit eerie. Bar patrons outside below bedroom window smoking pot and cigarettes - stinky. Stairs to suite very steep with narrow treads. Dangerous and certainly not to code.

A nice older building in a quite part of Victoria surrounded by beautiful old homes. Free parking and very convenient if you are catching the Coho Ferry. Unfortunately the room we stayed in was main floor with a window with no view except the side of the building next door. As well, the fridge had not been cleaned out from items from the previous guests.

I've stayed at over 25-hotels in Victoria, BC. The James Bay Inn is my favorite because of safety, cleanliness, and quirkiness. Roy and Hedy do an excellent job of making you feel welcome. Hedy took us to our suite and offered to help carry things to our room. The room was on the second floor overlooking the green garden and the passing horse-drawn carriages. Perfect. It is an easy stroll through the leafy greenness of James Bay along Government Street to reach the downtown area. The hotel is located in a lovely, quiet residential area. There is plenty of free parking. The Inn also boasts of a pub and a restaurant - - both convenient. Our suite was perfect - - with a spotless apartment of 4-rooms: bathroom, kitchenette, bedroom, and living room. Safe and clean best describe the atmosphere of the James Bay Inn. I love the majestic colors in the carpet in the lobby area as well as the stairs. If you are looking for a quiet place to relax between visits to the downtown area and the Inner Harbor, JBI is the place. It's a few blocks from the Parliament Building and the Royal British Museum. Thanks to Hedy and Roy and the staff for another wonderful visit.
