This was a perfect retreat after a hectic week! I wish I had the time to stay longer, hope to return someday :) Great location right off the square. Cute and very clean room. Felt very safe at the hotel and in the city as a whole. The front desk gal was extremely friendly and helpful. If you are out and about late at night, be sure to bring both keys with you!

Villa Porto All'Arco is an old villa that's been converted to a small hotel. Don't come if you're looking for modern amenities. This is more of a trip back in time. You get tall ceilings and original floors from hundreds of years ago. The owners are incredibly nice and helpful. And they serve a great breakfast. Two minor demerits. First, the address didn't show up on our GPS so it was a little difficult to find. Second, it's a five minute walk from the hotel to the main piazza of Volterra. So...

Fantastic place to stay. Within 10-15 minutes of the first gate of the city. Very excellent restaurant on site and friendly staff. Rooms were clean and spacious, and quiet at night. If you need the front desk early on the weekend, make sure to talk to them the night before.

I will start by saying that we will be back to Villa Nencini next year, and for a full week's stay. Does that tell you something? The location is perfect for the walking trips; the owners/managers are on site; the grandfather is the chef, taking time to hunt the boar and deer for the larder! The rooms are clean and well-appointed, with marvelous views over the ancient Etruscan walls, down the Cessine valley to the Tyreenean Sea. We loved this place and it was by far the best place we stayed during our time in Italy. The property is breathtaking and the service/staff is amazing. All the food we had was phenomenal and fresh. The wine is to die for. This is the type of place that is so good that you almost don’t want to tell people about it to keep it secret. Hope to be back again someday.

we stayed for 4 nights and used Seina as our base for our first visit to Tuscany. The owners were very helpful. They provided maps and information on all the local sights, plus some history of the town. One night we asked them to make dinner reservations and they had to call over 10 places due to a busy night. But they found us a great restaurant for dinner. Another day they provide a detailed schedule for buses to visit one of the towns we were interested in.
