"The hotel is in a perfect location on the public beach. We loved spending time on the sandy beach. There are countless things to do in the area. I wish beach chairs and an umbrella would have been included at no charge. We enjoyed the pool area right next to the beach."

OUTRIGGER Kona Resort & Spa

"We had three issues with our stay: The Outrigger is adding a Dukes restaurant -so there was lots of construction noise and debris. Would have been nice if this was disclosed. The Outrigger’s real name is the Outrigger Resort and Spa - but there was no Spa. Just a hotel room that was converted to a Spa. That is not that the same as a real Spa. Would have been nice is this was disclosed. The air conditioner stopped working on two of our four nights - so it was uncomfortably warm those nights. No apology or compensation offered by the front desk, when I complained."

"The staff there was just like family to me, everyone was nice and friendly. by the time I left it was like leaving family. Even with the hurricane hitting and being without power for hours, I would be happy to stay there again. My room was clean, and well taken care of. Breakfast was filling and delicious. most places charge for breakfast, but it is free here. Didn't use the hot tub or pool. It is a beautiful place in a beautiful city. And one big beautiful Island. If you go there, plan ahead. You will need a rental car. and if you are going to do any paid tours book them early. By the time i decided I wanted to do something they were booked. My highlite of my trip was to be there when Kilauea went off. the next day i checked on it, and it only erupted for 9.6 hours"

"The resort was nice. The ocean front condo had a great view. There isn’t really much to do 9n “the resort”except swim. There were two pools. There is a small grab and go for food at the family pool but they are closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays and only open 8a-12p. When we asked about a good place to eat dinner we were handed a pamphlet which listed the poolside cafe that was closed that day and offered no suggestions. Although the staff was friendly, they offered no information on a plan for the hurricane and just said we aren’t being told to do anything yet. They handed out a paper that just listed hurricane categories."
