“We booked a two-night stay at The Montagu Arms to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, so this was a special occasion for us. I would first like to say that every member of staff we encountered was friendly, welcoming and professional throughout our stay. Unfortunately, the accommodation itself fell well below our expectations. The room we were allocated felt tired, dated and unclean around the edges, with several areas looking grubby and in need of attention. It was also extremely hot, and……

“Great staff, unique location , excellent food , couple of small issues with the bathroom, quite a lot of limescale on the shower controls & adjacent tiles. Hot water in the basin took forever to even be lukewarm. Everything else up to scratch & would stay again .”

“Food poisoning the first night, rooms hotter than the sun, zero water pressure in the bathrooms. Constantly chasing staff for the most simple things. They ran out of ice. No fans for the rooms. No one collecting glasses or emptying an ash tray. Asked for a coffee in the morning and waited 15 minutes.. got up to ask where it was "oh i couldn't find you" yeah because you were in the kitchen flirting with the chef.. Could be such a wonderful place, if the staff weren't recreating Fawlty Towers”

“Polite and helpful customer service. Clean and cozy. The breakfast is very good especially the fish. The only draw back is the WiFi - as it is free, its bandwidth is limited, so a bit slow and unstable.”
