We recently stayed at The St. Anthony, a Luxury Collection Hotel, San Antonio, and the property itself is truly lovely. The history of the hotel is fascinating, and my kids especially enjoyed the haunted lore surrounding it—it added a fun and exciting element to our stay.
Unfortunately, the service didn’t quite live up to the caliber the hotel promotes. Our room was immediately next to an elevator that appeared to be having mechanical issues, making quite a bit of noise throughout the night. I also had to make two separate requests for a rollaway bed before one was finally delivered.
During room service, we ordered a bottle of champagne, which was brought to the room but no one offered to open it. We were unable to get it open ourselves and ultimately didn’t drink it. At checkout, I asked if it could be refunded since it had never been opened or used. The staff member did check with a supervisor but ultimately said that wasn’t possible.
Another thing worth noting: there’s no refrigerator in the room and no ice machine on the floor. If you need ice, you have to request it to be brought up. I did appreciate the front desk letting us know this ahead of time.
The rooms themselves are beautiful, but the overall hospitality experience was lacking. Throughout our stay, we didn’t encounter many smiles or welcoming interactions from staff.
