Never saw any staff- the door to the office was always locked. Never saw any cleaning staff. The shower sprayer was broken and it layed on the floor of the shower. It had really cold or unbearably hot water. The handle for hot and cold water was broken and you could not adjust it. There was trash under the kitchen sink. No blow dryer or counter space in the bathroom. There was one wash cloth and hand towel for both of us. There was a piece of metal around the skirt of the bed that would creek, then have a resonant thud every time you moved or sat on it. There was one tiny desk chair… Wouldn’t stay here again.

Staying at the historic Scotia Lodge was one of the highlights of our trip! This beautifully restored 100+ year-old hotel is full of character while still offering all the modern comforts you need. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome with their warm hospitality and outstanding service. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and perfectly captured the charm of the lodge's rich history. It's the perfect place to unwind after exploring the nearby redwoods and the Avenue of the Giants. Every corner of the property has a unique story, making the stay feel like stepping back in time in the best possible way. If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind place to stay in Northern California, I can't recommend Scotia Lodge enough. Beautiful historic atmosphere, friendly staff, and an unforgettable experience. We'll definitely be back!

Room needed vacuumed and dusted. There was a hair rubber band on the floor which wasn’t mine. There was already shower gel in the shower and one in the dish so that made me feel the shower hadn’t been well cleaned after the last guest. We had room number 208 and it was RIGHT BESIDE the stairs so we heard everyone moving about on the other side of our wall. The room overall was nice. I bet it was top notch 15 years ago. The carpet was stained and needs replacing.
