I do have one suggestion: considering adding Rubens Mexican to your recommened dining options, as it is a Hilo institution since1979. We actually made a special trip to Hilo to bring back a large order, and I highly recommend it to future guest. Mahalo for hosting us and we will definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet place."
"Beautiful view of the water and park below. The condo was clean, comfortable, well-stocked with appliances, silverware, and toiletries. The Air Conditioning worked very well. The location is central to everything you would want to do in Hilo and it was nice and quiet in the evenings and throughout the night. My family enjoyed staying here and would stay here again. Communication with the VRBO owner was always fast with prompt and courteous messages and responses."

"Clean and updated 2/2 condo in central Hilo. Easy drives to Volcanoes National Park, Waimea, waterfalls, and downtown Hilo. Loved walking to coconut island and around the park. Beautiful sunrises can be experienced every morning on one of the three balconies. Mahalo!"
"Check in was easy, home was close and easy to access. Cute quiet neighborhood. Loved the comfort of this home, great equipped kitchen, washer and dryer on property, beds are so comfortable. Home was clean but not too "Fancy". Would rent again!"
"This is a cute vintage home in Hilo. It does not have an oven or a dishwasher, which was totally fine for us. Kitchen didn’t have a lot supplies, but we weren’t cooking dinner there. Just making picnic lunches. No AC, but the breezes kept it very comfortable. Our contact was very responsive and gave us great suggestions of places to visit and eat. The neighborhood is very quiet. It was fun to fall asleep to the noise of the night animals- frogs, birds, etc.
There is a washer/dryer but it’s under the house…I am 5’5 and could fit in there fine- no one else in my family would have been able to stand up straight in the laundry room.
The other problem was the bugs. There is a termite problem which has created a mess in the kitchen cabinets and all between the carpet and wall, on baseboards and window ledges.
I understand that they are treating the problem, but it wasn’t clean. "

"Great but living room was to hot didn’t have AC and it was advertised as having a washer and dryer but there where sign up all over that the w&d was for business only. Communication was concerning. Websight tell you one thing but then the manager tells you something else like where the keys are."

"The unit was as depicted in photos. Clean and well equipped. It is very centrally located within Hilo and has easy access to all surrounding areas. The manager was extremely easy to communicate with and very responsive. I had a small problem while there and it was addressed and fixed within 24 hours. Very good experience. "

"This property was perfect for us. We had coffee and toast on the screened patio/kitchen every morning before heading out to explore. At night we’d relax on the couches for a few minutes before dispersing to our own bedrooms. I was a little worried about 1 bathroom for 4 adults, but the toilet is separate from the sink and shower so it worked perfectly for us. There are TVs in the bedrooms, but I don’t think we even turned them on. The property was extremely clean and the garden in the back made it feel like you weren’t 1/2 a block from a major shopping center. The location was 5-10 minutes from UH and close to national chain stores, but still felt secluded. A/C units in each bedroom were a major plus when the humidity became a bit much for us mainlanders.
