Lush parklands and waterfront views combine as the scenic backdrop for this entertainment district with something for everyone in Downtown Columbus.

Visit the Scioto Mile to explore spectacular walking trails and enjoy exciting events throughout the year. The urban oasis rests at the center of Downtown Columbus between the Arena District and the Whittier Peninsula. Get your camera ready for sweeping skyline views and landscaped gardens as you explore.

Set out along the picturesque Promenade from the east bank of the river. Admire the stone colonnade complete with swings and park benches, and stop for people-watching. As you walk, you’ll find tables for card games and chess. Keep going to reach Battelle Riverfront Park and Bicentennial Park on Civic Center Drive.

Take photos of the monuments and memorials in Battelle Riverfront Park, which was named for Ohio industrialist Gordon Battelle. Across the street is Columbus City Hall. At Bicentennial Park, discover the Scioto Mile Fountain with 1,000 water jets and interactive features for kids. Don’t miss out on seeing it at night with fog and lighting effects.

At Genoa Park on the western bank of the river, book tickets for a concert at the Genoa Park Riverfront Amphitheater. Around the park you’ll see the Columbus Police Memorial, the Lucas Sullivant Statue and the enchanting Scioto Lounge Deer Sculptures. Get memorable pictures with the Genoa Park Fountains near the amphitheater. They feature 24 bronze basins in 12 stone pedestals.

Explore the surrounding area to find more options for entertainment. Huntington Park is the home of baseball, and the Greater Columbus Convention Center features the Arnold Schwarzenegger Statue outside. Take a short stroll to the North Market for shopping before moving onto the Short North Arts District for gallery hopping. For everything from musicals to movies, see a show at the Palace Theatre. The design inspiration for the 2,695-seat venue was the Palais de Versailles in France.

The Scioto Mile parkland area is open year-round and it’s free for the public to access. It’s within easy walking distance of hotels in Downtown Columbus. Otherwise, park at garages for hourly or daily rates in the surrounding area.
