“Great hotel ”

“Let down by the lunch food poor choice of food Old fashioned salad garnishes Bedroom smelt damp scruffy garden from our window Room 19 For a manor spa 3star it should be more on point than it was Ripped Lino flooring in the hall Terribly shoddy sauna room Pool was fab ”

“I loved the relaxed vibe, the friendly staff and the location right on the beach. It’s a bit retro, but in all the good ways. It was just lacking a seafront pool and a shower for the thermal spa. Fantastic food.”

“As one can tell from the photos, this is a beautiful lodge in the old city. It's perched on a cliff overlooking the lowlands and the harbor off in the distance. The staff were always helpful and friendly. The breakfast menu, while limited, offered a fine variety of options, all well prepared. The only factor that keeps this rating from 5-stars is that the building lacks an elevator and stairs to upper floors are narrow and steep, the carpet is threadbare, and the walls require repair and……

“Proper shower would have been useful”

“The grounds are stunning with so much potential but it feels very much a work in progress. We used paddle boards on the lake, which was fab but an additional charge on top of a very expensive room. The sauna wasn’t quite up to heat, we stoked the wood burning hot tub for a dip, tried the lake to cool off and the cold plunge was unfortunately empty. The room was nice and clean. I booked the junior suite but ended up getting a suite. It didn’t feel any more special than a deluxe room elsewhere……

“This hotel went beyond our expectations. On arrival met by friendly helpful staff. Our room was beautiful, comfortable and on ground floor as requested. The gardens are amazing. Dinner in restaurant was very enjoyable. There is ample free parking at the hotel and also has a spa (extra charge) attached. Im not sure how far the nearest station was as we were there by car which enabled us to visit various places. Every member of staff were helpul and friendly. I wouldnt hesitate to revisit this……

“I stayed in the middle of a heatwave, the bedroom had paper thin curtains so was woken by the light at 5am. The room was also boiling, tho they gave me a small fan. The chef had left so no food available in the evening. Breakfast were adequate (tho somehow unable to do poached eggs???) The shower was great, but the whole hotel is extremely tired and needs a huge amount of updating. It had an air of Fawlty Towers about it”

“Cool hotel steeped in history and my room was huge and good. Hotel looks a bit jaded in places but really doesn't distract from fact it's a good place at a good price”

“The poor impression started when we arrived 40 minutes earlier than the book in time of 3pm to find reception shuttered and a sign on the door saying This is not a public Toilet. After traveling for over 100 miles we were hoping to have a coffee or maybe a refreshing glass of lemonade but no chance of that. So we left to find somewhere more welcoming. “Lovely golf course and breakfast was great but slow. Room was very dated and the bed had a huge dip in the middle. Very outdated and an old TV so couldn't even put on Netflix and relax.”
