Lovely walk through the esplanade
The Greenock Cut walk is a 7 miles circular mostly following the ' Greenock Cut ' a water system that was designed and built by Robert Thom in 1827. It has now been designated an ancient monument in recognition of the significant role it played in the industrial revolution. In this view, looking north, the faint outline of Ben Lomond is visible on the distant horizon.

Testimony to another time in the grand history of Scotland, the Wemyss Bay Terminal stands a proud tribute to the Victorian times which inspired its construction. Built to support the thriving link between The Isle of Arran and the mainland, the terminal provides a vital conduit between rail and sea transport. Today road transport has largely taken over from rail, however devoting some time to reflection still conjures up mental images of the 1920's.
