A beautiful, peaceful property located on the Western shore of the Chesapeake Bay in St Mary’s County Maryland just 5 miles North of Pt Lookout State Park. 1 minute walk to the beach and Chesapeake Bay shoreline. The property is setup with everything needed for you and your friends and family to enjoy a comfortable stay during each season of the year. Read prior Guest Reviews on VRBO and Google Map to decide if the property will suit your needs while away from home. It has for 150 families over the past 7 years! “Peaceful, cozy, comfortable, everything you need, relaxing, beautiful place to take walks and enjoy a run, we brought our bikes and had so much fun” are all comments we see in Guest Reviews and in the Guestbook. Load and start the dishwasher
Gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks, and take out the trash
Turn off the lights
“Check-Out” will be a breeze, just follow these steps please: - let me know if you plan to leave before 11am and if any items have become broken/need repair so that we can schedule repair/replacement
- Install Grill cover - Return kayaks and paddle board and oars onto rack and life jackets/beach toys inside the small wooden shed along the driveway (if used) - Turn off / unplug Gazebo lights
- Roll beach cart under cover of deck roof - Turn off AC / lights in Gameroom - Put backyard games, floats, bicycles inside Gameroom -Close mudroom and sliding glass doors Make plans to come again!
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

Rates based on 4 adults. Reservation of over (4) adults may incur add’l per night cost. This ensures turnover cost associated with groups are covered
Misuse of outdoor campfire ring, propane firepit or Illegal activity of any kind = all guests immediately vacate property, no refund.

Great location!

Really enjoyed our time here. The outdoor space in the back was great with the swing and the fire pits. Our kids loved walking to the beach everyday and catching crabs.

Beautiful Chesapeake

We are not strangers to the area, my wife having grown up in the area, but each time we stay on the Chesapeake we feel at home. The Hideaway is so nice that you don't want to go back your actual home! It is furnished as if it is a year-round residence, no cheap or mismatched furniture and appliances. We enjoy cooking and the kitchen is has everything you need and it works. The yard and amenities are top notch. If you enjoy bird watching, sit in the back yard and take in the bird activity over Deep Creek and its marshes. There are ample kayaking opportunities. We are looking forward to returning to the Hideaway

A True Gem

Wonderful house in an amazing, remote location. Just footsteps to a sublime, quiet beach. Ideal for families looking to get away from the city for a break and to enjoy nature. House very thoughtfully and creatively decorated, full of charm, and also practical and well-equipped. Wonderful garden and back porch. Easily merits 5/5!

Great cottage on the bay

We had a fantastic stay. The house is fully stocked with everything you may need and more. Quick stroll to the beach. I must dint want anyone to know about this as I don’t want this little slice of heaven overrun with guests.

I booked the Hideaway last minute and was the best decision! The home is VERY clean and well stocked. The game room and beach toys/kayaks were perfect for our short stay! We had the best time hanging out at the firepit roasting marshmallows! We will definitely book again when we return!

A little bit of heaven

The Hideaway at Hayes beach is perfectly situated to enjoy the outdoor offerings. The backyard is lovely and has everything you need to relax and be outside. We saw all sorts of birds, a fox, skinks and little frogs. The kids loved it. What a wonderful, relaxing week.

Fantastic vacation home!

We had a wonderful time! We enjoyed the beach, crabbing, the game room, kayaks and floats and spending time in the awesome yard. The house is very well stocked and very comfortable. Jocelyn is a fantastic host and we really enjoyed our time at the Hideaway!!

Wonderful start to the summer!

This was our second stay at the Hideaway. We have come to love Hays Beach like a second home. The backyard is beautiful and feels like stepping into a private park. When the sun got a little hot, we spent time hanging out in the sunroom, which also became our bird-watching spot in the evening. We have already started planning for our next trip to this stunning property.

Perfect getaway for family time

We had a great stay here for the weekend despite iffy weather. The owners have thought of everything-s’mores station and fire pit, gameroom fun for kids and adults, lovely access to beach and walking. There was really nothing missing- and the beds and furniture were so comfortable! Thanks for the great hospitality!

Fantastic Family Getaway

Family had a great time. Dog friendly private beach with no crowds. Got to try crabbing. Caught dinner for two of the nights. Great property with plenty of amenities inside and out. So much fun.

Wonderful vacation on the Chesapeake Bay

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at the cottage. Perfect location and so close to the secluded beach. Extremely clean, comfortable, and wonderful communications with Jocelyn - a most incredible host! Seeing the eagles, osprey, and blue heron were amazing interactions with nature. The scenery is stunning.

Summer vacation

Property is in a very peaceful and private community. Many great family adventures to be had in the area and beautiful, peaceful home to relax at. Jellyfish kept us out of the water most of the week, but we knew that was potential for the time of year and location. Overall amazing trip, would recommend.

Heavenly Hideaway

The house was fantastic!! The location was amazing, and the beach was the best for small children (the water was even warm because there is a sandbar right there). The house itself was also perfect- a really nice kitchen that is well stocked with great bedrooms and an overall setup that worked perfectly for two families!
