Queens is fine
We recently visited our daughter that had just moved to NYC. We want to visit her as often as possible so we were looking to find an economical but nice place to stay. Staying in the city was not important to us because her apt is in Queens. We were able to walk to the train and ride into the city, we felt safe and conveniently located to the train. We found several diners within walking distance of the hotel the were great and the food was delicious. We will be returning to this hote.

Great location near everything in New York. Right on subway stations and full of people coming home
The hotel is perfectly located right on Train 7 which goes direct to Times Square, and from there everywhere in NYC. The personnel at front desk were not friendly at all but, on the other hand, they accomplished the mission without being rude. The room was exactly what we needed and just like the photos. Breakfast alright and served right on time before we left to airport. Bathroom was spotless and beds very comfortable. Regarding the size, not big but OK for what we paid! Yes, I recommend location and hotel to anyone who is planning holidays in NYC. Very safe area at Queens Blvd full of people day and night
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Subway access is perfect and very safe at all times. That made our stay so much nicer since we could stay in Manhattan till late and no worries! Train 7 goes to Time Square where we recommend the Double-decker tour for the first and second days (48 hours service) From there, the sky is the limit!Dont miss the Natural History Museum by Central Park; you are going to love it!

reat if you dont wnat to ruin your budget
Okay, this is NOT an amazing hotel and it is NOT in Manhattan BUT if you are willing to sacrifice a little on the Manhattan dream then youll be happy: its only 10 min to the center of the city by subway and the subway stop is about 3 min walk to the hotel. And you get a free breakfast in the morning and rooms are very decent.

Best NY hotel buy
Accommodations and staff were excellent. Cant beat the price or location. Free parking very convenient. However, car aerial was stolen. Hotel didnt have local area street/interstate maps or nearby restaurant info. Definitely will stay there next time.

Very pleased - convenient, clean, good value
We chose this hotel because it is close to where our daughter lives in Queens. The location is very convenient to the 7 train (2 short blocks.) I requested a room as far from the train noise as possible and we were placed in the rear where we could barely hear the train. While the room was not overly large, it was adequate in size and had all the necessary amenities. My only criticism is that the sheets were too small for the bed and kept coming loose! The continental breakfast was plentiful but not particularly diet-conscious and the bananas were all green!!! How about ripe bananas and some non-sugar coated cereal? We will definitely stay here again - very good value, including free off-street parking.
Traveler's tip on dining
Dazies Restaurant across the street and up one block at 3941 Queens Boulevard is wonderful! Delicious food and very nice service.

Hotel was perfect. I will stay here again. Location was great and subway was just a few blocks away. Hotel was clean and very comfortable.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Buy a metro card for the week. Its perfect since you will be using it to get back to hotel from Manhattan.

Defenitely recommend to relax
This hotel is the way to go if you dont want to spend an arm and a leg to stay for a few days. We stayed for 9 nights and had a good experience on our stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful and room served its purpose. Even though it was a bit small for 5 people that stayed in room we still enjoyed our stay. Housekeeping would always give us extra towels as well as whatever else we needed to feel welcomed.
Traveler's tip on dining
Take taxi cab from airport rather than taking bus because taxi would be alot quicker even though you would pay $16. Also try Petes diner next door to hotel. Good food and very reasonable.

Great choice for those who cant afford Manhattan
Im living in the Bay Area now, but Im originally from Long Island City-Queens, so my first option was to stay there and since all the hotels in the city were outrageously expensive. The hotel is conveniently located on Queens Boulevard near shops, restaurants, diners and a pharmacy. Is it also only a block away from the 7 train, which will get you into the city in as little as 15 minutes. Although the joint is rated as a 2-star hotel, it felt more like a 5-star minus the glamour and glitter. The bedroom was spacious, cozy and warm with a huge king size bed. The best part of all, there were NO BED BUGS!! This is definitely a plus is the city that never sleeps cuz the bed bugs dont either.

Good hotel, so-so service, GREAT LOCATION!
This hotel is located two blocks from the 7 train that leads directly to Times Square, Grand Central, etc. Front desk service was by far the worst part of the hotel but it was tolerable if you dont mind being treated like a nuisance. The price was right and the location was great. I wouldnt worry about the neighborhood, my group and I felt safe the entire time. The hotel was clean and the housekeeping staff was great.

Fit our needs - satisfactory, would come back
When you vist New York City, it seems you spend hardly any time in your room except to sleep. For this reason and on a moderate budget, it seems silly to stay at a 5-star hotel. This hotel was clean, the front desk staff was nice, and it was accessible to public transportation. The only downside was that the hotel halls had little to no circulation and were stuffy. Ours smelled of smoke. The room itself was fine, though. Being near the subway, it could be a little noisy at times, but it definitely didnt keep me up at night after all the walking during the day.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
If you are traveling all day on the subway, the $7.50 (in September 2008) all day pass was the way to go. However, we bought a day pass thinking it would last 24 hours, but it is only good on the actual day you buy it. If you stay out utnil the wee hours of the morning, youll have to buy a new pass. Breakfast at the Daily Grind wasnt spectacular but relatively cheap compared to the city and quick. Funky vibe.

Great Deal
This was my first trip to NY and this was a great hotel pick for the money. The place was nice, clean, safe, and the bed was comfortable. WAY more than what I would have expected for a "cheaper" hotel. Seriously, I cant say a bad word about my stay there. Best of all, the subway station is 2 blocks away. You can be in Times Square, Statue of Liberty, or Yankee Stadium in no time. So if youre not renting a car, this is KEY. As well, I returned to my room at 1:00 in the morning and felt completely safe walking the 2 blocks. Also there are a ton of great places to eat close by. If you want to save $ but want to stay somewhere nice - this is your answer.
Traveler's tip
If you want to see a Broadway show, you can buy same day tickets for 50% off down in Times Square. The tickets usually go on sale around 2 pm. Go down there around noon and get in line early. The wait is well worth it, otherwise you will just wait at the end of the line. Bring cash - no credit cards are accepted. I got tickets to Gypsy and my seats were AWESOME! Also - the subway gets you everywhere. You can buy a Metro pass for $25 for the week. Way better than renting a car.

Good location
Easy to get into Manhattan. Subway 2 blocks away. The problem is the subway runs right in front of the hotel and if you get a room in the front, you hear quite abit. Good breakfast.

Had High Hopes...
My husband and I were planning a trip to NYC to see a few Yankees games. We read all of the reviews of the LaQuinta and it clearly sounded like the best hotel for the money. We understood going in that this was not a four star hotel, but I found it hard to believe that it was even two stars!!! When we went to check in our room wasnt ready, so we had to wait in the lobby for a bit. No big deal, since we were early. When we arrived in our room, it was different story. It looked like they had only made the bed. The room smelled old and musty and nothing was clean. The towels and sheets had "spots" all over them. Our remote to our tv was missing so we went to the front desk and the next two remotes they offered us didnt work either, so we never had a remote since they ran out. There werent really curtains on the windows, just white cloth, so I was paranoid that people would be able to see in, especially since we were the second floor, which was on a busy street. The bathroom was extremely small and the toilet ran all the time. If youre not planning on being in your hotel at all, then this place isnt bad. We traveled with another couple and they had a great experience, so hopefully it was just us. Would spend more money next time on a nicer hotel. The area was perfectly safe.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
One great thing is that this hotel is right off of the 7 train. We could literally see the train from our hotel window and the platform was two blocks away. There is a McDonalds right across the street and a bunch of little restaurants that were good. I felt this area was very safe.

Good location and good for the $
Location was good with easy access to subway and several eating choices in area. Room was quiet and clean upon arrival. A couple of minor repair issues were not corrected and daily maid service was not always the best. Breakfast was adequate but with a longer stay, was a little boring. Overall, took care of our needs and would stay there again.

Great place just outside the city
This was a great hotel for the price. We were very surprised how quiet it was and how nice the room was. This was our first trip to NYC and I decided to stay here based on the reviews and we were not disappointed. The 7 train is literally 2 blocks away and it takes you right into Times Square. Having a nice/comfortable hotel room to come back to each night was such a relief. Would stay here again for sure.

Enjoyable hotel experience
Rooms were clean and well maintained. Continental breakfast was enjoyed by all in our party. We were within a block or two of local restaruants and train. This was an enjoyable experience. The only down side was that there was no microwave in our room.
