Discover the secrets of beer brewing at the home of Budweiser. Meet the famous Budweiser Clydesdale horses, sample brews and have dinner in a beer garden.

Learn how one of the world’s most recognizable beer brands is produced when you visit the Anheuser-Busch Brewery. Inaugurated in 1852, Anheuser-Busch Brewery is among the oldest breweries in the U.S. and the home of Budweiser. Sip a selection of the taproom’s ales and lagers and wander around the brewery’s three national historic landmarks. Shop for Budweiser and beer souvenirs and mingle with fellow beer-lovers in a biergarten.

Free tours take you on a journey through the brewing processes, visiting important areas such as the brew house, packing plant and lager cellar. Glimpse the brewery’s history and the life of its founder, German immigrant Adolphus Busch. The caves of St. Louis were used as refrigerators prior to the invention of mechanized cooling systems. Museum exhibits highlight the evolution of the brewery, with displays of historical artifacts.

A popular part of the tour is the chance to meet the Budweiser Clydesdale horses. These draft horses were employed to pull beer delivery wagons during the 1800s. Ask about the availability of paid tours and workshops. These activities range from a behind-the-scenes look at Budweiser production to personalized tasting sessions and food and beer pairings.

Make your way to the Biergarten after your tour for the opportunity to try more brews and pub-style food. On the drinks menu you’ll find flagships beers, such as Budweiser and Busch beer, in addition to seasonal brews. Purchase gifts and souvenirs in the shop. From branded bottle openers, key chains and magnets to buckets, coolers and clothing, the choices for discerning beer lovers are many.

Located in the Soulard district, the brewery is a 10-minute drive from downtown St. Louis. Use free on-site parking if you drive.

Anheuser-Busch Brewery is open daily, except select public holidays. Visit the brewery’s official website for more details about free and paid tours. The Budweiser Brewery Experience app offers additional brewery information and is downloadable for free to mobile devices.

Be advised that after having done at least 6 tours here for free, they now charge 10 dollars a piece for the basic tour. This does include though, a free bottle of FRESH Bud Light, and the usual free beer at the end. Also, more crowded than I have EVER seen it! Still well worth a visit!
