Dependending on the room they give you, it can be noisy due to the metro train. Elevators one of two was working. Homeless people outside of the hostel. (They werent rude). We wanted to do Karaoke, went to the 2nd floor where it was supposed to be and didnt see anyone doing that activity, went to the front desk to ask about it and that person was so lost on the info provided, nothing related to what was announced There was hair in the showers. The lightbulb in our restroom area wasnt working right. Winston was amazing helping us out get a new room far from the noise. But we when out walked around had dinner when it was time to sleep we realized theres no air conditioning on our room :( went to the front desk and didnt really get help. The guy at the front desk refered to ask for certain person for help.that person sent me to see if another person could help, I went to ask for help to another room. Like, the other guy was just sitting at the stairs by the lobby.... No one opened the door so we slept without ac. Other than that I think the concept is good. I think you can meet great people and about their culture too, we didnt really get to experience that this time, but we have in other hostels

Great staff and the rooms were in good condition. It's a hostel so don't think it's a five star hotel or anything, but it was great as a traveller who was only there to sleep as it provided everything I needed. It also had free breakfast!

Everything was amazing. The reason I only rate 4 stars is because the my room (private bedroom) Did not have a single mirror. I am a girl and a mirror is an essential for me

This was my second time staying here and this time during a busy weekend (The Taste Of Chicago). I was shocked when the prices went down. But after doing my walk through The Taste i see its nothing like it use to be. Anyway, staff at hotel were nice and helpful. I really like the option of being able to store your bag(s) for $4 up to 9pm. Very convient. Clean, quiet, peaceful place to stay. I know now if i ever need to stay in Chicago and be in the downtown area it will continue to be this place. I literally walked everywhere i wanted and needed to go. I always walk grom train station to my room.oh and breakfast is a plus.

This was a very economical place to stay in Chicago. It was very basic, but that's what you expect for the price. The elevator was terribly slow, and I travelled to the 103rd floor of the Sears Tower faster than I could go four levels in this building. Fitted sheets didn't fit the bed and came off several times each night. The included breakfast was good, and of a standard you would expect at a Best Western.

This is one of my favorite places to stay in Chicago but there were violent guests who didn't observe the community living codes for safety this time.

Staff was friendly, lots of tours and programs for guests, nice breakfast, 1 block away from Red Line LRT train. Only drawbacks were the few homeless people who live on the same street, and that our sink was not draining properly but not fixed during my 4 day stay even after the front desk said they'd send someone up to do it that day. Overall, worth the price, very welcoming, transit friendly is a big bonus.
