“Amazing, the photos do not do it justice, lovely cosy cottage a home from home and fully equipped. Great location, short walk to village incl pubs and chippy, also access to walks (which pass through livestick fields so dogs on leads). Grizedale forest was a short drive away with really good (long & short) walks, better for dogs off leads. ”

“Bonito hotel”

“One of the few hotels in central Ambleside with lots of facilities which was a bonus. Although the sauna and steam room were a little chilly! Areas of the hotel were being upgraded with others still to do - bathrooms and main dining area.”

There was a large fan provided, which was very welcome given the heatwave that was taking place that week, We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent. “Room was on the roadside so no view and lower than the road so.o0eming the blinds meant people being able to see down into the room. Staff were friendly but their system for checking was odd, just a section at the end of the bar and online check in didn't work.so had to re do all the details. Breakfast system to order gluten free or vegetarian was to order at the bar not in the kitchen and then they brought it to you but you had to go back to the kitchen to get the rest of the meal. “Staff were great. The valley had no water due to the drought. The staff took it in their stride. They were honest about the situation, provided bottled water and kept guests up to date with the situation which was resolved by the next morning. “Breakfast lounge was sparse, no plates so had to use a lid from something else to butter and eat toast. Parking was easy and useful in The Lakes. Room was nice and bed was large and comfy, downside was the heat from the large floor to ceiling windows in the sitting lounge at the front with no way to cool it down. Be better if we weren’t having a heatwave! Overall it was a nice enough place, well positioned for Ambleside and Waterhead and parking was a plus.”
