"The rooms were really nice. The staff was super helpful. They could have used more assistance with guest bags to the rooms. The ghost tour was awesome. The food and drinks in the 3 Owl bar and restaurant were great! The pool area outside was super nice. The reason we went was for the SPA which was WORTH every penny!!!!! We even booked another session to the 2 we already had booked. Definitely would go back again. Wabash BBQ is literally down the street-Great Food! Not a lot to do outside the hotel experience and spa unless you drive to KC."

"No big issues but was charged an extra $30 for having kids. Pool was freezing and no lights were on as it was getting dark. Walked by an hour later right before the pool closed and they were finally turned on. Next morning while eating breakfast the person running the front counter walked out the front door with a golf club and was gone for about 5-6 minutes before coming back with said golf club. Not really sure what that was about but it was enough that my family and another family gave each other concerned glances"

"Breakfast was good; breakfast area was clean and the attendant kept the food fully complete. Only issue concerning the breakfast was coffee maker was set up for variety of specialty coffees, one cup brewed at a time. Approximate wait time for each cup of coffee was 3-4 minutes. A long line formed and was annoying for people needing a cup of coffee to start their day, waiting 15 minutes to get a cup of coffee."

"The property was under renovations, the ice makers only worked on one floor, the elevator floors were dirty. It was definitely what I would expect a Hilton to be. You can do better, let's just say the Best Western we stayed at was kept up way better than this hotel. Great location though."

Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Independence-Kansas City by IHG

"This Holiday Inn location did not live up to my usual experience at a Holiday Inn. It wasn't "horrible", but the interior of the building (including the rooms) have not aged well. I saw multiple large stains in the hallways, our bedroom had mold growing around the upper rim of the bathroom sink, the bath tub glaze had massive cracks throughout the entire surface, the blinds had multiple micro-cracks in them. All in all it was not a very pleasant experience after being on the road all day. And to boot, there's another Holiday Inn approx. 12 miles further east off of Hwy. 70, which I have stayed at before and enjoyed, which I discovered (after reserving a room at this location) was about $78 cheaper! That knowledge just made the experience even more disappointing. The single "high note" was the young lady who checked us in. She was very prompt and professional which was appreciated."
