Westin Crown Center, Kansas City

Posted Oct 5, 2015
Hotel is nice, situated close to the Amtrak Train station and event center. Unfortunately, price is above average and does not include parking or Internet services. These are available as an addition to an already expensive stay.

Pros: The bed was very comfortable and I liked that they had computers in the lobby to use.
Cons: I think it would be nice if you didn't have to pay for parking.
I think the hotel was very nice. We were there on business and it was conveniently located.

Old but clean.

Posted Aug 17, 2015
Cons: Update the interior of the bathrooms.
I have stayed at the Crown for the last 30 years (but not since the last 10 years). The lobby has been remodeled; the room clean but needed an update. Parking was limited.

Hotel is in great location!

Spectacular! We had great time at the bar... Rooms are super spacious... I had couple of friends over and we had a ball.. Great spot to chill when you are in Kansas City. The hotel staff are professional and very friendly. Breakfast was great! I didn't get a chance to try other meals. Bar food is awesome too! There is a ball room at the hotel if you into ball room dancing! Also four flow I believe has a pool, tennis court and gym...

Sooooo expensive!

Posted Aug 9, 2015
Pros: Very clean and staff was extremely accomodating.
Cons: Signage to garage area. Staff did not know how to tell me to get to garage.
Location: Hallmark cards, LegoLand SeaLife, World War 1 museum. Eating...lots of eating places :)
This was a very nice hotel and fairly convenient to the convention that I was attending. I was stunned to hear that they charged extra for wifi and parking though!! $17 a day to park in the garage and it wasnt entirely close or convenient to get to. Very disappointed in these features. I do not know how families afford this place, even though it is in a prominent family geared environment.

Easy access to power & light

Posted Aug 3, 2015
Pros: The hotel shuttle than runs from the hotel to the Power and Light District every workday and in the afternoons on the weekend.
Cons: The fact that my sink backed up twice and filled my room with a vomit inducible smell.
Location: Hotel shuttle makes getting to downtown a breeze; Crown Center is connected to the hotel; National WWI Museum next door!
Otherwise the hotel staff were all friendly, helpful, and very informative. Check-in was easy. Room was nicer than expected, but as I unpacked, a vomit inducible smell filled the room. The bathroom sink had backed up with a terrible brown water that was emitting a gut wrenching smell (I hadn't even used the sink yet). I tried calling the operator, but it was continually busy. Went in the hallway and asked the housekeeper next door to file a report; ends up the plumber was next door fixing their sink. After about 15min the sink's water level went down, but still, when I went to wash my hands later it backed up with nasty brown water. I managed that night, as I was exhausted from traveling and the smell was gone. I finally went downstairs to the concierge in the morning and told them about it. He apologized, gave me a $50 room service credit and offered for me to change rooms right then. A nice offer, but I had to be in conference all day, so I said if it wasn't fixed by the evening then I would like to change rooms. The sink problem never returned, and all was well for the rest of my stay. The room I had was on the 6th floor (ground level near the pool), which was unfortunate as it wasn't safe to leave the window open and the noises from the pool came right into my room. Also the main door to the room was nearly 1" from the floor, which allowed all of the hallway noises to enter the room. I ended up using a towel to block it, which helped.

Very overrated for the high price and reputation

Posted Jul 29, 2015
Pros: Only good thing was location, connected to Crown Center.
Cons: Mentioned already in description. Cleaner, update quality if going to charge that high price.
Location: Crown Center, downtown, not far from The Plaza area.
For spending over $200 a nite for a room, we were not impressed. Yes the lobby is big and spacious and has waterfalls and connects to crown center in Kansas City. But otherwise very overrated. Took forever to check in after 10 on a Friday night. The staff took forever and didn't talk or seem to hardly be doing anything. When we did try to make friendly conversation he said its never been like this that people still booking to come in. The room was spacious and looked clean but hallway had big stains and other than looks like newer carpet or mirror the rooms were kinda run down. Knobs old and clock filthy and dust on lamps. Didn't like that can't turn lights on unless find lamps in dark, not as you walk in. Also didn't like the multiple plugs in were only on desk, none on table by beds. Most people like to plug in phones by bed not clear across room. Not sure if every room is made for disabled but sink and everything so low. Was very inconvenient. The bedding looked clean and white but the top comforter was so heavy felt like weights in it so we had to turn it down and left with hard sheets. Our son and his wife's room had no AC and they couldn't reach the front desk the first night. So when we did discuss it with front desk they had to move to another room. Then had to waste time haggling over how waste of our money paying for room over $200. They then had to explain how since we booked thru Expedia that they book room and pay them and etc so long story short they did give us
