Lloyd District
Popular with sports fans and shoppers, this Northeast Portland neighborhood has a huge mall, an NBA team and the convention center.

Conveniently close to downtown Portland, Lloyd District is where locals and visitors head for major sporting events and big-name concerts. Travel by streetcar, light rail, bike or car to easily access the district across the Willamette River from Downtown Portland. With the Oregon Convention Center, hotels, a mall, theaters, restaurants, office buildings and more, there’s a commercial vibe to the neighborhood. Something fun is always going on.

Explore the Lloyd District from the central Rose Quarter, where you’ll find the Moda Center, home to the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers and countless musical acts and other sporting events. More intimate events are scheduled as well, with the center transforming into the smaller-scale Theater of the Clouds. Check out the action on the ice at the innovatively designed Veterans Memorial Coliseum, home to the Western Hockey League’s Portland Winterhawks.

Take advantage of Oregon’s zero sales tax with a shopping spree at the large Lloyd Center. Shop for clothing, books, electronics, home goods, jewelry, shoes and other items at more than 100 stores. Set down your bags and head to the first floor for indoor ice-skating at the Lloyd Center Ice Rink or view a film at the multi-screen movie theater. Later, relax at Holladay Park, between Lloyd Center and the light rail line. Investigate the art installations and an interactive fountain.

Browse goods in shops along Northeast Broadway. Expect more independent options here, as opposed to the Lloyd Center’s national brands. Pick up a few titles at Broadway Books, stock up on cooking gadgets at Kitchen Kaboodle and search for consignment clothing treasures at Here We Go Again.

If you’re in town during the holiday season, check out the Crafty Wonderland Holiday Art and Craft Market at the Oregon Convention Center (OCC).

Reach the Lloyd District, across the Willamette River from downtown and north of the highway, via car or public transportation. Travel by TriMet bus, MAX train or the Portland Streetcar on the eastside Loop Service line.

The room was nice, a little small for what I was expecting. We booked a king room with a balcony. There were limited amenities in the room, super small mini fridge.
