We loved our family getaway to Barcelo!

Cons: We booked the family suite which has a separate bedroom for our kids, the TV in the kids room is really really old and needs updating.
Location: We enjoyed the massage up the beach, $20 for an hour. Looked sketchy so we waited until the last day...wished we had gone earlier and more often.
We had a great time at Barcelo resort in Puerto Vallarta. Took our two daughters for a senior trip and had a relaxing time laying by the pool and enjoying the activities offered. I would recommend the family suite that has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms if you are traveling with more than two people. Loved that every room has a beautiful balcony view of the pool and ocean.

Location: IT WOULD OF BEEN BETTER IF THE HOTEL WOULD OF BEEN CLOSER TO DOWNTOWN (EL MALECON)

Staff was excellent

From the time you walk in, the staff is really friendly and we were welcomed with a delicious drink... Everyone is very attentive. The room was huge and very clean. We had the all inclusive and the drinks were great food was not as good as I thought, it was ok but our experience at Barcelo was excellent... Definitely will be coming back soon

Pros: Everything, even the taxi drivers were friendly. The local bus was exciting and worth every peso.
Cons: I expected less and got more (do not go to town on trash pick up day
Location: The location is perfect
It all started with the outstanding service at the front desk, every time I went there the service was fast and the clerks were great. the rooms were what I expected, clean and neat (the safe never worked right) but it worked,the view was great. The food was superior in every respect. The lady at the front desk, I believe her name was Claudia was friendly, courtious, and very professional. Patricia in the Buffet was outstanding and she made our dining experience exceptional

Beautiful oceanfront hotel

My sister and I stayed at Barceló the first week of may. Our room was twice as big as we imagined and we got an ocean view which was amazing. The food at the resort was ok, the buffet was good as long as you got Mexican food and not American kinds of food. Also for the buffet, it was obviously only fresh at the beginning, so going early was best, especially for seafood which gets overcooked and not good very quickly. The snack bar which was open all day was great, it had fresh tacos (could build your own), pizza, etc and was always quite fresh. We found service to be a bit slow so we usually went up to the bars ourselves, but the drinks were fantastic and the whole staff was amazing. We also paid for wifi ($19 CAD for 48 hours, per device), and it worked perfectly almost everywhere, even our room. I read in a lot of reviews it didn't work in the rooms but our room was in the middle of the 2nd building on the 4th floor and it was great. The only place it didn't work was along the beach. The rooms were very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the rooms had walk in rain showers which were amazing. The only complaint would be that I found that the elevators smelt very badly of dirty wet towels, so much so that we took the stairs for most of our trips. My sister and I wanted to go on a snorkel tour but the hotel said they didn't have any. One of the boats parked on the beach offered to take us for $600 pesos and it was the best snorkel / boat trip we had ever been on.

We like Barcelo properties

We loved the quietness. It's out of town. Beach is horrible. Man made with rough pebble rock. We thought the food staff was not to accomadating, especially since the resort was not even half full. Good was mediocre at the best. We upgraded to a suite that was very nice. A bonus was the heated pools. The pools were clean. Only complaint about pool was that very small children were allowed to take the swim up bar completely over all day.

Beautiful View, Noisy to Distraction!

Pros: Beautiful scenery, away from the busy Hotel Zone.
Cons: Stop playing the obnoxious pool-side "techno" disco music. We want to relax and hear the ocean and the waterfalls. Better food.
Location: Must experience Le Kliff restaurant which was the highlight of our trip!
We've been going here for almost 12 years. Sadly, it has gone way downhill and this is our last visit. The food was awful! It used to be good, but not anymore. Too many locals with large families and screaming kids EVERYWHERE! Experienced hostility and rudeness from staff and Mexican guests like never before. I kept wondering if they paid as much as we did? No longer welcoming to foreign visitors. They had a local wedding on Friday night and allowed the most head-banging, obnoxious, ear-splitting techno music blasting until almost 11pm! I was just about to call the front desk to complain and ask for a partial refund, when the music finally was turned down. We're through with Barceló Puerto Vallarta.
