Visit the old Christ Church, which has been holding regular services since 1884.

Step into a former U.S. Coast Guard Station to see the fascinating Maritime Center. Make your way to the island’s southern tip to enjoy stunning ocean views from the restored St. Simons Island Lighthouse Museum.

If you’re ready for an adventure, check out St. Simons Island’s sweeping beaches. Go swimming or kayaking at East Beach or explore the coastline by bike or on horseback. Where to stay in St. Simons Island

They say the 1872 lighthouse on St. Simons Island is haunted by the ghost of lightkeeper Frederick Osborne, who was killed in a duel with the assistant keeper John Stephens in 1880. Either Stephens made advances on Osborn's wife, or Osborn made "inappropriate remarks" to Stephens' wife. Sounds like those keepers had too much time on their hands. Osborn was acquitted, but Stephens apparently got his revenge.
