But for $300 a night, I want more. One of the amenities they really brag about is that the hotel is music focused. There’s a record player in every room and lots of records throughout the building. The quality of the records? Okay. Eclectic and most certainly purchased from bargain bins or in large lots. They’re the leftovers your used record store can’t sell. Even worse, the record player in my room was missing the power cord and cables. So after picking through the records, I found it didn’t even work. I could have asked to have it serviced, but this was a one night romantic getaway. Having a stranger come service the record player wasn’t ideal. We used our phones and a blue tooth speaker instead. I’ve been to the Elizabeth’s Sunset Lounge a number of times and I visited during this stay. The bar has a nice view and a swanky feel. But the bar staff tend to ruin that for me. This is the second time I’ve sat directly at the bar and been disappointed by loud chatter about their schedules and the inner workings of the establishment. This time the actual manager was part of it. Also, when the cocktails cost nearly 20 bucks, I expect blue cheese olives to be available for my dirty martini. I’m sure I’ll be back, as Fort Collins is small and the Elizabeth offers a variety of entertainment and dining options. But I simply cannot say the experiences I’ve had there have been stellar.
