"The property was extremely clean. Everyone we came in contact with was very pleasant. We had our dog with us and the room was very accommodating. The location was a bit further away from Carolina Beach than I thought, with all the traffic, but other than that, we had a great stay. "

"The front desk staff did their best to accommodate our needs. As at the Homewood Suites in Greenville, the access to WiFi was a problem. We were unable to make the login process work. The lack of a complementary breakfast is a shortcoming for this property."

"The location of Hotel Ballast is very nice, located on the river with a beautiful view of the sunset. It’s well maintained with the most helpful and friendly staff. One evening, a neighboring room had some rowdy kids running around and banging on the walls around midnight. I texted the front desk and within two minutes (not an exaggeration) they addressed it and the neighbors settled their kids down. I was completely impressed with their professionalism in this situation. I would certainly return for another visit to Wilmington!"

"What a beautiful property. Everything was maintained and the room was gorgeous. I enjoyed sitting by the fire one of the nights. We ate brunch and even had a cocktail at the gazebo. I will definitely be back!"

"We booked a reservation online and it was confirmed, only to arrive at the hotel and be told that the desk attendant had cancelled it because she believed the hotel was full. We asked her to confirm and she rudely told us she was the only person there. When we inquired about different room types that may be available, she told us there would be a significant cost increase. She was extremely unhelpful and we ended up booking at another hotel. "

"Not worth the price. I stayed here plenty of times when it was Blockade Runner. Trailborn has doubled the price and I don’t really see the “upgrades” in the actual room. Shower is a regular tub combo and water pressure is non existent. Thought I’d give it a shot since you can’t beat walking out of your room straight to the beach. I’ve stayed in much nicer places for nowhere near the cost. At least give me a balcony. Nope. It’s clean and the beds are comfy. As soon as I pulled up, the concierge reversed into someone’s vehicle. Won’t be back and I really used to love this place. "
