Stay in a pretty community by the water with an evergreen-clad shoreline and distant mountains. Its closeness to other attractions makes this a good spot to visit.

Brentwood Bay’s serene location makes its resort and spa a popular relaxation destination. Located on Canada’s western coast in British Columbia, the community is just north of the capital city, Victoria. Drive easily to the area or come by boat and use marina facilities on Saanich Inlet.

Near the spa, catch a car ferry that crosses the inlet to Mill Bay. The 25-minute crossing is a scenic voyage to view this part of Vancouver Island. The village has its own stupendous views. Victoria can also be reached from this side of the inlet on Malahat Drive, one of Canada’s most scenic roadways. Drive the 16-mile (25-kilometer) mountainside route that reaches its highest point of about 1,156 feet (356 meters) near Mill Bay.

In this area of the province discover award-winning wines produced at local wineries that take advantage of a favorable growing climate. Divers will want to explore the artificial reef off Brentwood Bay. Provincial and regional parks are numerous and provide varied hiking conditions. Near Brentwood Bay is Gowlland Tod Provincial Park, which has over 25 miles (40 kilometers) of trails. Over 20% of the province’s rare plants are located here. Visit the closest community of Saanichton, known for its flower and rose gardens.

In Brentwood Bay, find Butchart Gardens, a 55-acre (22-hectare) estate, a principal attraction on Vancouver Island and designated a national historic site. The themed gardens and rose collections provide an idyllic place to spend time. Close to the grounds are Victoria Butterfly Gardens, set inside a large structure almost the size of three basketball courts. Step inside to a tropical world that has not only about 70 species of butterflies, but also flamingos, tropical birds and much more. Visit the Insectarium, included with general admission.

Choose from many transportation modes to visit Brentwood Bay. The community is connected with roads to Victoria, ferry service from Mill Bay or floatplanes from various locations in the province.

We had room 121, it was old, outdated, smelled stale and musty. There was a very old air conditioner in the window held in with a piece of wood. Not efficient or attractive. The old baseboard heaters had the room cooking to the point that we had to have our window open wide all night in March. ancient ...
