Chose the Drake (being from Chicago in a prior life, not having stayed there in previous visits) because it's a Grand Old Hotel -- not sure how well it would stand up, years later, etc., etc., but hopeful, and seeing pretty good reviews, so . . , Bottom line: Really enjoyed it. Location is great. A generous, very comfortable high room (good to minimize traffic noise from Lake Shore Dr.) with a lake view was excellent. Bed v. comfortable. Gym was good, never crowded. Breakfast sit-down not open every day (a minus), but most days, and very nice. Priced reasonably for a good hotel. The coffee/bakes breakfast option also good. Staff all around was friendly and, when needed, helpful.

I liked how everyone who worked at The Drake were kind, caring and very helpful. They explained any questions I may have had. The rooms were beautiful, clean and had extra towels in the rooms. The valet service was also wonderful! We parked in self parking to save some money, and it was only a block away!

The Drake Hotel is a wonderful Chicago landmark with timeless elegance, beautiful architecture, and exceptional service. Its location on Michigan Avenue is outstanding, placing guests close to the lakefront, shopping, restaurants, and many of the city’s best attractions. The rooms are comfortable and full of historic charm, and the hotel’s public spaces feel grand and inviting. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend The Drake to anyone visiting downtown Chicago.
