It’s an amazing time to be in Portland. This home is perfect for visitors who want to have access to all the local attractions, without being in the hectic atmosphere of downtown. Local wildlife is abundant. Birds galore, three types of squirrels/chipmunks and rabbits daily. Less often but not uncommon are hawk, raccoon and coyote sightings. Yet downtown Portland and other iconic neighborhoods are just minutes down the hill.
Home is partially powered by a Tesla Solar Shingle roof. If we experience a minor power outage (up to 6 hours) there will be no disruption in your power usage. Offset your carbon with us!
This unit is larger than average for a one bedroom, but we request parties of 1-2 people. Three-four people can be accommodated, but there is an additional $30 charge per person over two. Additionally the pullout sofa is a twin size and does crowd the end of the king bed when opened. Most appropriate for a child age 4-14.
We take cleaning seriously. This unit is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between each guest. Cleaning supplies are included or inquire if you’d like the unit cleaned mid stay (offered for stays longer than seven days).
Unit is ground floor of home. A home which has pets and teens, so some noise should be expected. Cleaning of upstairs unit every Friday at 9:00 AM for example creates some noise. Cats and dog on floor above unit, if you are very allergic, this may not be the VRBO for you. We welcome official service animals, but not companion or comfort animals.
The kitchen is large and brand new but could be considered a kitchenette as it doesn't have a full-size oven. Gourmet cooks need not fear, this kitchen is completely stocked with the cook in mind, with a large microwave, premium convection/toaster oven and top-rated double burner hot plate, you can cook up a storm.
Please note only the bedroom has central heating and air conditioning. This is controlled upstairs and doesn't have a dedicated thermostat in the unit. The rest of the unit is heated by the gas fireplace insert. The fire is started with the flick of a switch and has a built-in fan controlled by a dial. On high it really puts out the heat. In the summer the apartment stays naturally cool and receives some AC from above. Additionally, there are ceiling fans in the unit to help move the air around.
Recreational cannabis is permitted on the patio only, no smoking or vaping of any kind allowed in the house. Tobacco use is prohibited in all areas. Absolutely no parties, large gatherings or loud noise allowed.
We are here most of the time, but your privacy and independence are assured. We mainly interact via the app or text, but are happy to meet in person. Feel free to ask for a tour or contactless check-in, we want you to feel comfortable. We respond to questions/requests in a timely manner.
Quiet and picturesque with curving roads and green space, in Southwest Hills/Hillsdale neighborhood. Home is only 1.5 miles to Hillsdale, 2 miles to Multnomah Village and 2.7 to OHSU. Mere blocks to Council Crest Park which has a 360 degree view and the popular Fairmont loop for walking or biking. Bus route 51 to downtown Portland. Most will prefer a car to get around because our neighborhood is hilly. Lyft and Uber are readily available. One parking space, do not block neighbor's driveways, only park in space provided. Enter through gate to the left of garage door.
Accessibility:
Our VRBO is one level with no stairs no steps. From level parking to front door is all paved. Entry gate, front door, access to living, dining and kitchen are all wider than 32". Other areas are bedroom with door opening at 29" of clearance, and please note bathroom has 22" door.
During your stay:
Please leave your shoes at the door. The unit should be left in basically the same state as you found it. Do not move furniture. Please try to be gentle with our apartment from the appliances to the walls, we hope you treat it with care.
Please keep noise down between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM in our residential neighborhood. Absolutely no parties or late-night gatherings/noise.
Portland trash service is only every other week, 6:00 AM Mondays. Please secure all trash in well tied bags. I will give you a heads up if you're here during trash week. Recycling should go out every Sunday, for early Monday morning pickup. Glass needs to be separated from other recyclables. Note: if you're enjoying a longer stay, and want to put out your recyclables text me that you have recycling to go out. Place bag of recycling outside your door and I will grab it. (Recycle bins are inside our garage).
If you plan to have one of our guests sleep on the sofa in the living room, please let us know so we can supply linens to cover sofa and add comfort for the sleeper.
Living room gas insert fireplace may NOT be left on overnight. Please switch off gas and fan before bed. Also see heating notes above.
Fire pit supplies are not included (do not use wood at the end of patio). Fire kits are available for $15.00. Do not start fires after 8:00 PM. Do not add wood after 8:00 PM. Occasionally there may be a burn ban during the summer months. If this is the case we will inform you via text and no open fires may be lit. Green Egg BBQ may still be used with store bought charcoal during these events.
Patio and yard are exclusively for your enjoyment during your stay, except when our yard maintenance person is working. This usually happens in the afternoon on Friday or Saturday, but can change without notice. Additionally there is a sprinkler system that will go off periodically during the dry months.
Please inform us if you have a service dog. Our dog has a “dog aggression” problem. There is a fence between the two areas of yard, but to keep noise and stress levels down, we would appreciate coordinating time outside to minimize dog interactions.
