“A dying village in the middle of the moors.
The property was very old and while an attempt had been made to bring it back to life, the result is a very dated premises with poor plumbing.
The hosts were very friendly and informative.
Access was given the the outdoor kitchen, hot tub and garden.”
“Lovely owners who were very welcoming. Right in the middle of town and almost next door The Prince of Wales pub. Very good breakfast. Lovely room and nice comfy bed. Highly recommended.”
“Very old building, but the room was modern yet maintaining the atmosphere of a 400 year-old inn
Evening meal was good with multi choices breakfast also
Would stay here again without hesitation
Staff were excellent, friendly, helpful”
“It was a wonderful, yet too brief, one night stay. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. Our meal in the informal dining/pub options was nourishing and delicious. The room was clean, large, and bright. We were able to get a room facing back garden and with views. A big pot of tea and a freshly pressed coffee were very nice at breakfast. Local walks on the moor, and to the quarry & rocks and were fab.”
“Such a beautiful, beautiful place in a lovely setting. Such attention to detail, the furnishings, the gardens and sitting areas not to mention the wonderful breakfast that was served. Our host could not have
been more helpful or pleasant. We hated that we could only stay one night. Hopefully we can return one day !”
“A good location for us with plenty of parking. Room was clean, but ours had a very tired bed mattress which really needed replacing. The staff were all very friendly and helpful during our stay and food and drinks were all reasonably priced.”
“Great stay in a centrally located hotel/pub - staff were excellent and food first-class.
Room and the facilities were very good
The village was very pleasant too! I would absolutely stay here again.”
“We were a little disappointed with our stay and are surprised by the number of positive comments.
While our room itself was clean enough, the rest of the property would benefit from a serious deep clean. The carpets on the stairs were heavily ingrained with dirt. We were also surprised to find that the dining area was carpeted, which seems an unusual and impractical choice for a breakfast room. The carpet was very dirty and had a musty smell, and there were crumbs scattered around when we came……
“We travelled as a couple with our dog. From arrival all staff were very friendly and welcoming and explained local walks (with a map) that we could do with our dog.
The room was exceptionally well kept and clean with lovely finishes. We had a balcony looking out over lush gardens and we could hear the river flowing which was beautiful.
We had dinner and breakfast both exceptionally and good value.
The lounge area was lovely and great place to chill. For an old mill it looks so well kept and……
“Very good and convenient location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are bright, comfortable and clean. Delicious breakfast. Well-equipped rooms. A good place to stay in Tavistock! ”
