“I spent a week here and can’t wait to return. The location was dauntingly remote looking at a map. But anywhere worth going to on this side of the island requires driving anyway. The walkable nude beach was a big highlight. The hot tub and outdoor shower was also a great touch.”

“You could tell that the hostel has been a work in progress over the years built on a solid bed of black lava and completely off of the grid! Nothing is the way that we're used to in our day to day living but everything that you need is there! If I've intrigued you, then try this awesome place! We opted for the deluxe room with private bath. Our room as well as the entire place was immaculate throughout! We were staying there after witnessing Kilauea's 47th eruption. “This was amazing! Great staff, great location AND there's even a swimming hole (5 min walk, if that) with a waterfall! I've never stayed in a shared house before, but this one has spoiled me! It's close enough to be able to drive to all the good tourist spots. Oh, and hopefully you're there for the "big" farmers market on Saturdays. If I get back to the Big Island I'll be coming back here! Thank you for the great time!”
