![Boardwalk through the Bog of Tregaron, Ceredigion This excellent boardwalk allows access well into the bog with many good places to stop and observe the wildlife and vegetation of this site. Cors Caron is a raised bog system. The bog covers more than 800 acres (325 hectares). It is 6km in length and provides a habitat for a wide range of wildlife and plants. The bog itself was formed 12,000 years ago when the last of the Ice Age glaciers melted away. A large shallow lake was left, which very gradually filled with sediments and vegetation, forming peat and later, acid peat. For centuries, local people would go and cut this peat from the bog to burn on the hearth. In 1955, Cors Caron was declared a National Nature Reserve in order to preserve this increasingly scarce land form. In 1993, Cors Caron was placed on a list of wetland sites of international importance under the terms of the Ramser Convention. The bog is now managed by the Countryside Council for Wales. “Our room, No 6, was fairly compact but it was spotlessly clean and fresh smelling. The modern shower and toilet room was also spotless. The staff were very friendly. We didn't see the option of breakfast so we couldn't have the residents' breakfast which included cereal and more, so we chose breakfast from the menu. It was very good - perfect poached eggs and great tea. We will be going back in the summer.”

“The view is absolutely beautiful. The overall hygiene was ok, with a small bit of stain on the sheet remaining. However, there was one used instant coffee packaging left, probably due to carelessness of cleaning staff. The worst issue was that the shower was completely not working but the hotel gave us this room knowing that there was a electrical failure for the shower. Although the staff was really polite when we raised this issue in the morning, it does not erase the disappointment at night.……

“Reception staff were lovely, the room was spotlessly clean single room perfect for my needs, free wifi plenty of power sockets and lights, one of the nicest beds I have ever slept in! Lovely cooked Welsh breakfast plus plenty of fresh fruit, yoghurt and cereal choices Really enjoyed my stay and will definitely book again”

![Boardwalk through the Bog of Tregaron, Ceredigion This excellent boardwalk allows access well into the bog with many good places to stop and observe the wildlife and vegetation of this site. Cors Caron is a raised bog system. The bog covers more than 800 acres (325 hectares). It is 6km in length and provides a habitat for a wide range of wildlife and plants. The bog itself was formed 12,000 years ago when the last of the Ice Age glaciers melted away. A large shallow lake was left, which very gradually filled with sediments and vegetation, forming peat and later, acid peat. For centuries, local people would go and cut this peat from the bog to burn on the hearth. In 1955, Cors Caron was declared a National Nature Reserve in order to preserve this increasingly scarce land form. In 1993, Cors Caron was placed on a list of wetland sites of international importance under the terms of the Ramser Convention. The bog is now managed by the Countryside Council for Wales.
